Corvette price checkin
Are people really getting 30+k for their base model cars? I see them listed all over but never know if they are really selling for that high. Seems crazy but I know there are a growing number of buyers who seem to be willing to pay whatever it takes for some reason, supply and demand I suppose.

True to some extent but I have not seen any other line of cars increase as much as Corvettes have. 2-3 years ago what was a 18-20k car is now a 30-32k car. That's roughly a 50% increase. Other vehicles have gone up some, usually 15-30% from what I can see. Just confused why a luxury vehicle like a Vette would go up more than functional vehicles that are in very high demand.

Also, you're basing your numbers from 3 years ago on totally flawed and wrong data, so there's that. You didn't get a nice low mile car for sub 20k back then, and a low 20s car like ht would have been an 05.
As for why luxury cars have gone up more than regular cars, it's supply and demand. People with money have seen huge money from investments, many haven't had to spend money on commuting to work, many downsides homes and made a boatload of money, and they have cash to play with. People that need a newish altima have seen their net worth expend by less, if at all, and so they simply don't have the same demand as luxury goods.

The car is a well equipped manual with 28k miles if that makes any difference.

It's worth noting that carvana, carmax, vroom, etc also base their offers on their inventory. So if they're flush with vettes and similar sports cars, their offers go down. If they're running low on fun cars, they pay more.

No other vehicles built expressly for pleasure, either.
Desire a nice Corvette?
Expect paying a premium.
Makes it in this market reality?
All the more critical acquiring a solid Corvette before laying down hard earned cash. {shrug}

The market is definitely crazy right now but there are still reasonably priced c6's out there. I just got my 2011 GS 3LT with 35k miles from Kansas City for $35k. Cam, exhaust, intake, headers, e85, flex fuel setup, etc. After months of seeing base 2008's listed for $30k I finally found this GS and I think I gotta fair deal, even if it was a $30k car 2 years ago.

This is simply supply and demand and has always been the case. It's just quicker and easier to see in real time when you can get a real wholesale offer on your car in less than 5 minutes. For better or worse the computer age has made it easy for Joe Sixpack to see what is happening behind the curtain.

Here's an '07 with 700 miles for $43K! I know this isn't necessarily typical, but it's pretty crazy!

I understand now.... one other tip is try a different zip code. Both Las Vegas and Salt Lake City are a reasonable distance from me and submitting a car under both zip codes sometimes results in a significant difference.

Finding a good deal on a really nice Corvette is still possible. But it's like everything else in life. If you want a good deal on something nice, you're going to have look hard, and work hard, for it. Applies to Corvettes or anything else......
