Default What the heck is it????

06 Vert 3LT....on the passenger side of the rearview mirror is a black box at the top of the windshield. Looked thru the owner's manual and can find nothing about it. Does anyone have a clue what it is or does?

Thanks...did a search but it didn't show anything...I guess I don't want to mount any other electronic equipment next to it...might interfere with the comms signal.
Want to mount a dashcam, but looks like it will have to go on the drivers side of the mirror.

It's not mentioned in the 2006 owner's manual.

Not to worry. As soon as the 2G networks are decommissioned (this year), your Onstar will be Nostar. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/16/3g-n...-cars-gps.html
Apparently, Onstar is planning to make available some kind of converter that might work to keep it alive. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1604753144
Personally, I'd just pull the fuse, and remove the black box, in that order.

IF i remember correctly they are working on a device that will plug into your OBD port and use Bluetooth to send info to an app on your phone. It was originally scheduled to be sent out in March of this year but evidently they are having issues with it and it has been delayed. The existing onboard system would become totally obsolete.

I've never noticed it. I don't have Onstar (do have the 3LT Vert) so maybe that's it?
