One thing to keep in mind.
Yes the type and condition of,tires are Big factor in connectivity to the road surface.
BUT,when you throttle up in a corner especially in a Vette. They will rotate or over steer resulting in your recent experience.
A down shift to 2nd gear does generate a jump in throttle response.
A try to practice the following "Slow is smooth,Smooth is Fast. In other words slow deliberate actions to control the Beast.
I've been schooled in this mindset by riding motorcycle track days and the Corvette on road courses.

that damage should be minimal, the plastic parts are less than 100 and you can find a front cradle for about the same... if you even need it...
she's just letting you know she needs a little respect and you'll both be fine!
thought we were gonna get pictures of you in a ditch or smashed up real good!
those temps are really too low for any fun driving on extreme summer tires... really should be on Michelin as4 at that temp..
it's all good and you'll be on the road again before ya know it!

I have high performance summer tires on mine, not runflats, and here is SC I notice the grip is down when it gets below 70 degrees. I saw it in Michigan before I moved but didn’t realize it would be as noticeable here, but it is what it is.

For what it's worth, I downshifting into 2nd smoothly prior to the turn and I didn't just mash the throttle. It was all pretty smooth...just didn't hook up under power. Looks like these tires are from 2007? If so, holy smokes! They still looked good...had no idea they were that old!

Yeah those tires were on way past due and that last turn did them in. Lucky the damage was minimal and no one hurt. No worries driving after this, lesson learned and I'm sure you'll be keeping a closer eye on things now.

HAHAHAA those tires are as old as the ones on my Ron Fellows.....the car only has 4000miles. So the tires are still new right?!
I was backing it onto the lift the other week and they wouldn't even grip enough to drive up the ramps onto the lift! Had to get enough momentum to get it on without spinning.
If this car ever sees the road the first place it'll go it to the tire shop.l

You are absolutely SO lucky!... Bone head move.. driving anywhere on tires like yours... I should know cause I totaled (yes totaled) a ride years ago caused by old tires... You are so lucky to survive with minimal damage to your car!... But the big hurt is knowing (for years) you screwed up your beautiful car.

Even new tires need to get up warm before they stick when it`s a little cool out. This can take a while and can still break loose. I never get on it if it is cooler than 50...

I just changed out my original Goodyear run flats for some Continental DWS all season (non runflats) made me feel like I had a total different car. So much better.
I was heading back to Missouri from the Corvette museum, got caught in a rain storm on a wallowed out road in Arkansas. The Corvette hydroplaned terrible at any speed above 40. At the time my runflats were five years old, with 5,000 miles. Get rid of those tires.

Been there ....done that.....sucks for awhile but it will pass....gotta drive it like a Granny in cool weather. I usually keep the gauges on ....front air pressure...to give me some idea as to if the tires are warmin.....still not fool proof but gives you an idea

Sorry to hear/see this! When was it? I live in the area just northwest of Liberty. We've had a couple freeze mornings and old tires sure didn't help. I had a Focus ST and still belong to that group. Tires are a huge topic around this time of year as people are swapping out for winter sets.
Damage doesn't look too bad - the bigger picture is you're OK!

Holy smokes man! That sucks!
Happened last Sat. The 30th. Now she's just sitting all lonely in the garage awaiting repairs.
I'm not the original owner....just the newest. Still sorting out the car and learning all the little things. It's been a while since I've had a corvette on the road and I'm still a little out of sync with things like old tires. Everything I've ever owned wears out the tires well before 6 or 7 years, let alone 14 years!
