C6 might be the best sports car ever
Specifically, my 2005. Now, this will probably apply to all C6's but I own a 05 Z51 Mn6 so my comments are about that car only.
I usually like to watch an episode or two of "Customer States What!?" and in this episode notice the location of the problem. If you watch a couple more episodes you'll see that Audi's and a few other cars are nearly impossible to work on DIY.
I love my 05 not only as a driving car but also as a DIY car. I've had a number of issues and have fixed them all my issues myself. (Hardest so far was a new clutch and flywheel.) Yes, some issues required I buy more tools and a Chinesium TechII, but I'm still better off dollar wise. Also, I have the satisfaction of knowing the job was done right and I did it.
If you are thinking about it I would like to encourage you to try and do your own work. The satisfaction of doing it yourself especially when your finished and you clean/polish up the area you just worked on is tremendous.
I'm not going to say I've never messed up. I have. Start with oil changes and work your way up. You'll begin to understand the true greatness, IMHO, of the C6.

Agreed. I was at the pump the other day (I’m there rather frequently) and I had a guy that just couldn’t believe my 2007 Z06 was basically 15 model years old. He thought it was 2-3 years old.
I've been at the same pump and have had someone ask what kind of car I was driving. It was my C7.
The people around here don’t get out much.

I had a new neighbor come over and talk to me about it one day while I was washing her. He said what year is that, 2018, 2019? I told him it was a 2007 and his eyes just about popped out of his head! I had another neighbor tell me that my car is "the shiniest thing I have ever seen"! I had a guy at a stop light pull up next to me and tell me that my car was the most beautiful car he had ever seen. I think we all love hearing things like this!
I love this car so much!!!!!

My 2007 is one of the easiest cars to work on that I have ever owned. The only job I did not handle on my own was the harmonic balancer. Brakes, fluids, starter, water pump, etc are all very simple DIY jobs.

My 110000 mile 2006 has been one of the most trouble free cars that I have ever owned. Besides regular maintenance items such as shocks, tires, sway bar end links, brake pads, regular oil changes, occasional other fluid changes, the only issue I had at 30k miles was a leaking water pump seal. A new OEM pump, and never an issue since.
I've replaced batteries about 4 times, and only once did I have one that failed, and gave me a bunch of codes when the voltage was too low after a start. That battery was a 6 month old Optima Red Top, kept on a battery tender, but was defective from the get go I guess. I did not replace that knecwith another Optima.
The good news to date, is I've never had an electrical issue, on any system.
I've never driven a C7 or C8, and don't read on those forums, so It is hard for me to compare against those platforms.
Of course, if one reads all the issues that are posted on the C6 forum, one may get the impression that the platform has many issues. Even so, as mentioned, most can be fixed or worked on via DIY.

I have to agree I have 05 for the last 10 years plus and it's the best Corvette I have owned, truly joy-able to drive.

Not happy at all at the time, but when I was 14....before I could even drive....my dad had me out in the garage swapping out the front end of the VW Bug that my older sister bent up driving into a ditch.
The car repair training my dad taught me has done me well for 40 years. My C6 has cost me at least $4000 less to own due to those acquired skills.
RIP, dad.

Hmmm. "best ever" I'd swap my C6 Grand Sport for a 1967 425/435 anyway of the week. Twice on Sunday!

I usually don't like telling this story, but I ordered my 67 from the factory brand new. A 427/390hp L36 roadster.
Waited almost 4 months, and finally picked it up from the Chevy dealer on a Friday evening with my brother. 10 minutes into the ride it was starting to get dark. As soon as I turned the headlight on, all hell broke loose. I lost all electrical except for the motor running. Drove back to the dealer and left it. Turned out the entire harness burnt up and had to be replaced.
Babied the car until the 600 mile break in. After the service was done, that Sat went out with a friend for a 100 mile ride to the Montauk Point lighthouse on Long Island. This was in January, and the area was desolate. The road leading to the lighthouse was 2 lanes. So I finally had a chance to open it up, and when it hit 90 it started bucking. I had stayed below red line, no rev limiters in those days. My first thought was a spark plug wire came off, because now at idle it had a miss. Couldn't find anything wrong, and was able to limp back home. Took it to the dealer on Mon. The next day I get a call from the service manager that the engine has to be rebuilt under warranty. Something about a cracked piston and rings. I demanded a new motor, but they were in short supply, and none were immediately available.
A great start for my dream car!

Yes the C6 (LS3) is the best performance car for the money.
Got my 08 Z51 for $23,000 w/ only 53k miles!

Have a base 2010 MN...no significant problems whatsoever...oil changes, a new battery and AS3+ tires...18-20 mpg consistently around town...been to FL a number of times and gotten 30+ mpg (according to the computer). Very happy with this car; would consider a C8 IF manuals were available, but of course, they're not. Only regret was not getting Z51 option when I ordered it from Kerbek...

It might not be the absolute best sports car ever, but it's certainly the most beautiful and easily recognizable Corvette since the C1 and C2! My 08 convertible still gets compliments and attention wherever I go, especially after it's just been washed and waxed.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
I have had 2 Corvettes that I had to have... One was my 65 Roadster back in the day and the other was my C6 Grand Sport. My GS reminds me of my first Corvette in that it is great to look at and very dependable and easy to work on. I love the analog gauges and 6M tranny.... and the LS3 is a horse.....kinda like my old 327 was. I have had C3's and 4's and 5's but the C2 and C6 remain my all time favorites........ now what I need is a C2 Restomod with all the new C6 stuff in it........ the best of both worlds.......

Gotta love the word 'might'. I occasionally got snail mail informing me that 'I might already be a winner'. Or might not, which was always the case. There wasn't anything I was unwilling to tackle on my 64 roadster. There were no electronics in play other than the coil/points/distributor, some of the gauges and a few relays. Even the tach was mechanically driven off the distributor. All the lights had basic mechanical switches and key fob, what key fob? It had a mechanical fuel pump that you could change out in half an hour on a bad day. That car couldn't have been easier to work on. All you needed was a feeler gauge, multimeter, and a timing light plus some basic tools. Way easier to work on than a C6.

I went to my first Cars and Coffee today with my daughter. I had a woman tell me that my car was the nicest Corvette she has ever seen in her life. This was while there were three C7s and four C8s sitting in the same row with mine. It made me feel great and smile so big! One of the C8 owners was looking at my car and said if he didn't know any better he would swear that it was a brand new car! My daughter kept wanting to walk back past my car because she wanted to make sure everyone knew it was "her" car! :
Love this car!!!!!
