Default Glove Box Handle

The glove box opener on my 2006 broke in half today. Is anyone printing these? If so, how can I contact them. If I can't buy a printed one, can I get one from Chevy? Don't want to buy a used one as it will probably be fatigued like mine was. My interior is tan/beige.

Also, how can I open the glove box door?

Thanks for any information.

There’s an aftermarket latch on Amazon for the same price as OEM that is reinforced at the hinge & better quality.

Thanks JABCAT. I ordered an OEM part from my local dealer as he could get it in one day. His price wasn't too bad.

These replacement handles run about $55-62 depending on where you find them. Make sure you order the proper color. You can open the glove box with the handle broken by pressing upward on the glove box door to take the pressure off the locking mechanism while pulling down with your fingers or your thumb on the metal rod that sticks out of the handle mechanism. It's a nuisance but it does work. I haven't seen GM improve on this design so I've been waiting for that to happen before ordering (may never).

Not sure I'd want to buy OEM and deal with it breaking again after a short time. Right now I have mine held together with a paperclip and some JB Weld, but I will probably buy this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-2013-c...0AAOSwEFheRFC5. The seller has good reviews at least and claims a lifetime warranty. I haven't ordered it so I can't speak to the quality of it, though.

The one I posted above is $49 on Amazon and is reinforced where the OEM latch breaks. Not sure if the eBay one posted is the same, but here’s the pic from the Amazon latch. Simple 2-min installation swapping the lock cylinder over

I can appreciate that someone is trying to make a different design, but in my case, the handle itself is what broke and I don't see this aftermarket design having a stronger handle.

When mine broke I looked online but refused to pay $55 - $75 for a new brittle piece of plastic with a stiff spring that will likely break again before long. So my solution was to use a piece of bootlace. It ain't pretty but it hasn't failed and hasn't made a sound in 6 years.

Mine broke a few months ago and I replaced it with the updated unit from Amazon like @JABCAT linked. It definitely feels stronger.
