Alex, no matter what part # or the year the nav bose system comes out of, it will work in any model year. The kicker however, is that you need a Tech II scannervto marry the unit tonthe car VIN. The dealer is usually the only place you can get it done, and most charge to do it.
I hope I explained it correctly.

2012-2013 Navigation (with USB connection) = 20856087
2005-2011 Navigation (w/o USB connection) = 15233090

2012-2013 uses a proprietary USB connection on the back of the unit.

I may have a 2012 w/ USB for sale at a reasonable price in the near future.

Edit: I have a tech II and can un-marry it, but I don't know if I can un-marry and immediately pull it out. I would think so but I'm not 100% sure.

I agree you will be much happier with an aftermarket head unit. If you're really wanting to stay OEM, send me a PM I have the OEM Bose/NAV out of my 2005 that worked fine when I pulled it out, but as stated you will need a TechII to to get it to work in your car.

Hi Chris, searching through the CF, ran across your post of 04/20/21. If 2005 should be a Denso 15233090. Do you still have the unit? price?
Let me know, thanks
Al.

I agree with others who say to buy a good quality after market system such as a Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine etc. You'll be so much happier with a after market system because of the better sound and functionality if them, plus there's no need to marry them to the car via a TechII like you need to do with a stock system. The stock systems are so outdated and pathetic compared to the after market systems that are out there.

I replaced my stock unit with a Kenwood DDX 8906S and couldn't be happier. The stock unit in my '05 was so bad, my kids used to make fun of it saying it looked like the original Pacman game was about to break out.

I replaced my 2005 convertible unit with a PIONEER AVIC-W8600NEX. I would be willing to sell my own unit if stanj1 does not want to sell.

Well change that puppy out with a good after market system, you'll be glad you did. I put a Pioneer system in mine, it was this first thing I did when I bought the car.

Unfortunately finding stereos just sucks right now. Trying to find a unit with wireless Android Auto, I hate all the cables, and its not easy!

samauriwarrior, please send a PM, with your price, hopefully the unit was working when you last pulled it out, and I know that may have been awhile, but thats OK. And just to confirm that it is a Denso 15233090.

It is not a 15233090. It is a Denso 15263014.
It came out of a 2005 convertible in May It was working perfectly at that time, I just wanted an upgraded music and map unit.
Let me know if you are still interested.

I have the OEM Nav, and have used it since I bought the car. Over 80K miles of road trips using the Nav, and it never let me down. Sure, the maps don't look as good as a Garmin, but it works just fine. The issue with it is the last update for the Nav unit maps was in 2016. Luckily, roads aren't being replaced or built at a rapid pace in North America.
These always come up for sale in the FS section. I purchased a spare one for less that $100.00 shipped last week.
