haven't looked in to it, but if its anything like cloning an "office door badge", its about 20 bux worth of parts on ebay...

they can just get in and drive off like they had your keys....

Yeah it's literally nothing like that. The C6 requires 2 way communication between your key and the car. It's not just an rfid passive system. Like you're describing.

Sell the Vette and let someone else worry about it.

At which time they bring in a flat bed to finish the job. From the time he backs up to your car, hooks up and drives away is only a couple of minutes. He tells me you just have to get the car away from it's parking spot ASAP to avoid trouble and than you have all the time you need.
In my younger years I did the same thing, forget minutes, we could be in and out of a lot with a car in under 60 seconds without ever getting out of the truck.

I live on the Treasure Coast ( Florida ) in a man gated community. It’s extremely rare that a car is stolen. They also have patrols patrolling the area. Usually my Vette is garaged and the daily driver is outside.any deterrent is better than nothing but if they want the car they can tow it. Good luck

Or they can find the fob after they break into your house to rob you, go out to the garage to see what car the fob is for, unlock the car, pop open the garage, then drive away. Several months later, you get a call from the Mexican cops telling you they've found your Corvette and to come get it. True story.

Wow, watching that was an eye opener for me. Dang, the tow truck didn't even have to square up to the target vehicle!

I'll be honest, I locked my Fob in my car one time and didnt have onstar activated (pro tip: never leave it behind the seats) and I had a hell of a time getting back into it. These cars have pretty great security features from the factory. As stated above, if someone wants it bad enough theyll find a way. I bet statistically though C6s are very rarely stolen cars.

The OP has worries about theft.
Professional thieves, looking for a Vette, more than likely will tow....this forums consensus.

If a Fob ID or key itself is "hacked", perhaps a hidden toggle switch to the fuel pump fuse is an answer.
Or to the cam sensor or like ignition component)
(I do not know how to wire these hidden switches in)

Another option may be to add a paging alarm, where if the car is lifted or a door opened, you are notified.

Best of luck wished.

Get an alarm. If it's jacked or towed or touched the alarm goes off.
Keep the E brake on and turn the steering wheel.

Alarms can work - but how many times do you hear a car alarm go off and really take notice of it... It's common enough to hear them that most people don't really take much notice of them. A really LOUD Aftermarket alarm is far more likely to be noticed than the average OE car horn alarm,

You see the videos of how fast a tow truck can grab pretty much ANY passenger car. It's really hard to stop that kind of theft. The only way is to prevent the truck from getting access to the car - or to stop the car from being able to be moved (the way the tow truck lifts the tires doesn't afford a tremendous amount of pulling power). Simply preventing the engine from running won't stop the tow truck from grabbing the car - or prevent the car being loaded onto a flatbed (via winch) a half mile away.

There are some alarms that send a pager like signal a decent distance when the car is disturbed or when the dome light goes on - so if you're nearby - you get a real time warning - I believe that this type of alarm can be set to signal either silently - or in conjunction with a alarm.. But - here's the fun part - what do you do when you get the warning - do you head out and confront the thief ??? First off - if you're at work - how long will it take to get to the parking area? How about if you're in a store ??? And even if you do get out there - how many people want a run in with a car thief (typically they have at least one friend with them - in the car that dropped them off - and they may be armed)... And they probably have a lot less to lose than you do. Just something to think about....

What you have is an optional setting for your fob. My 2007's fob is set to unlock the door only when I press on it.

There were guys I worked with that could pull a car out of a parking lot space with a car on either side.

They can even get cars that are parallel parked.
