Advanced
I want to upgrade my stereo and I mostly want front and rear cameras for parking reasons
And I want to play music on my phone (and charge it)... the nav is less important to me since I use my iphone. I also want to be able to call people and have it sound nice.
I recently asked a question about what is the ideal C6 Corvette and somebody mentioned @JABCAT's corvette. I want to get more details about his stereo since it has almost everything I want for around $500 bucks (minus the install) Pioneer AVH-2440NEX with front & rear cameras.
As of right now, I have a ROAV Smart Roav Charger F2 ( ) which I plug into my ciggarette lighter.
I put my phone in my ProClip Angled Dash Mount (https://www.proclipusa.com/vehicle/d...-corvette/2007)
So this way I can have my phone affixed to the car and not worry about the phone flying around and I still get my music. This set up also really helps me since the charger insures my GPS won't drain my phone's battery and let it die while I still need the GPS.
My only major dislike about my ROAV is that it stays on after I turn off the car and the ROAV stays powered on so I think it drains the battery.

Any of the bigger brands would work fine. Lately I always recommend Kenwood because they are a good mix of sound quality and features. But look at Kenwood, Alpine, Sony and Pioneer. Look for something with a capacitive touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The capacitive touch screen is a nice improvement over the older resistive touch screens. The only other things to decide is if you want CD player or not. Non-navigation units will still get navigation though your phone via CarPlay and Android Auto.

I just updated the Head Unit in my 2013 GS with a well liked but inexpensive Alpine from Crutchfield. Paid $299 plus $25 for a Pre wiring harness making it basically plug n play. I had no knowledge on how to install. During installation i posted my questions here on the forum, and the guys guided me through. Lots of needed and appreciated help.

This is a solid recommendation. If you have the factory Bose system, and I suspect you do, an upgrade probably entails a complete replacement of head unit, speakers, wiring, and so on… it will probably require dismantling the interior to accomplish.
I have the same conundrum and debated the value of a total reset for the past couple of years. I envy owners who have the basic audio system.

I updated mine 3 years ago at Bestbuy for around $1200 which included Kenwood DNX575S, front and rear camera. Stock NAV is very weak, and database is at least 4 years old. I replaced it mostly so I could use Android Auto with Waze and Pandora. Waze mostly for traffic and police locations.

I'm not a fan of anything Pioneer. Onkyo bought them a few years ago. Best Buy used to sell Pioneer Elite AV receivers as one of their highest recommended receivers for home theatres. They don't even carry them any more.
All I replaced was the GM head unit and it brought the Bose speakers to life. You really don't need to replace anything except the head unit. Besides - you shouldn't be able to hear the stereo if you have the car sounding like it should!!
