How does the case umbrella do in the wind? Seems like it would act like a sail...

My 07 sat outside 6 days a week for 8 years in the Texas sun. Kept it waxed and no problems. Crack the window opposite the blowing breeze to allow heat to escape.
At 11 yrs old.

You get a minimum 10% boost in MPG going with the wind, but a 30% reduction going the other way.

I live in the PHX are as well, and you are right - the sun is brutal on the paint. Wax will help, but avoiding it is way better. With the whole COVID thing going on, we have more family at home, and more cars than garages. And while my Corvette isn't outside, my sons' Grand Cherokee is, so we bought one of these 10x20 canopies from Amazon to keep the sun off.

Works great. The open sides help to keep it from catching the wind, and cement blocks from Home Depot on the legs work well to keep it in place.

I would have done this as Harbor Freight has completely enclosed portable garages for $189, but the place I'm staying at doesn't allow them. I had one while I was still in Texas and it worked great.

I third this option. I was going to suggest building something similar using galvanized fence post piping and clamps, like a simple rectangular frame to pull a canvas tarp tight on. Probably more work than you wanna do, also I love using materials Not for their intended purpose, so I just saw an opportunity to nerd out.
More practical idea might be to put it in a covered rental space at a local storage facility.

Texas sun has nothing on the AZ sun and heat. I should know after living there for 32 years.

Three pages and 52 posts about how to park outside. Really?

Poor Ed stumbles from disaster to crisis and back again, over and over with the utmost drama.

Like I said way back in the beginning, parking outside in AZ for 6 months, a year or several years isn’t going to do any damage if you properly care for the paint. I used to Zaino my cars once a month when I lived out there & none of them had any issues with the paint.

I lived there for five years so I know exactly what the sun and heat is like. That's why I moved away. After a few years it just wears you down. Can't figure out why anyone wants to live there.

I had a Cessna out at the Goodyear Airport, but we kept it in a hanger. The planes tied down outside looked horrible from the sun and heat fading the paint and destroying the interior. Ours was almost 20 years old but looked like new.

How about something like this enclosed canopy shelter for $252?

It's a car, it's made to be outside, use a sun shield on the windshield and crack the windows when parked.
