Default shifter stuck

A friend has a 2006 base Vette and the shift lever keeps getting stuck in park. Is this a common thing? Anybody know of a fix for it?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, a common enough problem. Start here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...use-found.html

Yes, it's too common. I had that problem on my 2005 C6 A4.
Better fix it now. One day you won't be able to get out of park, and it will be at the worst possible time.

The problem comes from a big brother government nanny requirement combined with terrible GM implementation.

Easy fix. YouTube has numerous videos on the fix or just do a search here on the forum. You will find several methods to choose from.

Yes, fix it now. The clock is tricking ticking now, and you will get stuck.

I wish all the YouTube goodness on the fix existed when mine went **** many years ago. Cost me a butt ton at the dealer to get it fixed. Didn't know any better early on.
