Hi my name is kevin and I am a recovering bmw driver
All I can say is, damn did I waste a lot of time and money getting here. My bad ‘Merica..somewhere along my many roads I arbitrarily made my mind up about domestic cars, most specifically the corvette as being clunky, greasy, Poorly designed, plasticky death carts. Never saw myself driving one..and up until I purchased the one I have, not Once had I driven one. Im a canyon fan, these cars have no business in the canyon, these are at best a straight line dragster..leaf springs? No way!
I was right about the clunky design as it applies to acdelco interior components up till very recently at least.. boo. And as far as the rest, what can I say that my regular flat bed guy hasn’t already told me? Ls2 made me a believer, interior? What interior? Smg says what? Rod bearings? Whats that?
I am a fool... and now a fan. What an amazing car

Welcome, but the Intros section is really not the place to conduct your poll. Moving this to C6 General.

Full recovery usually necessitates a 12 step approach! I hope you find a support group soon!

Recovering BMW driver?
Guess that would be me also since up until Feb 2020 I owned three BMW’s
I was deeply considering a second Corvette, a C5 2003/2004 Z06 for Autocross & HPDE but was sadly disappointed after driving three different models, not even close in the fun department to the M2, no matter how hard I drove the C5 Z06 could not surpass my best M2 time.
Now I am looking at a 2011 C6 Z06 or a C7 2017 GS as a Autocross & HPDE vehicle, if not I may just pick up another 2016/2017 M2.
If your wondering why the move to Corvettes, it was my father, (RIP) he was a major Corvette enthusiast and owned more than I can count. I felt it was about time for me to honor his past and embrace Corvettes also, It’s been a rocky start so far.

- 1998 M3 Convertible (Garage Queen, weekends only)

The first BMW I ever experienced was a 2002 Tii. At the time I drove a Firebird. No comparison. The Tii, while not terribly refined, was a completely different experience. While there was a descent amount of power available you had to keep the Tii engine wound up pretty tight to get to it. The Tii had the Firebird in spades as far as handling but the Firebird had power.
The M2 (As best I understand.) and the C5 are simply evolutions of the 2002 Tii and Firebird.
The entry level, at least in my world LOL, for a sports car is that the car can pull at least 1 G lateral and at least 1 G of acceleration. My 2010 does that.
The last BWM I had was a 2005 325. I liked it. It was a nice car but I missed the power.
My 2010 has a supercharger and makes at least 800 HP at the crank. When people ask me what I like about my Vette that answer is easy. It is red, loud, fast and the top comes off. I wish for you to have the opportunity to drive an 800 HP Vette.
A Corvette will probably never be a replacement for the M2. It is it's own kind of car, as is the Corvette.

Never really intended to find a full replacement for my 2016 M2 with the first Corvette purchase. For now, I just want a car that could come relatively close to the engagement feeling I enjoyed while driving the M2 at speeds during HPDE events.
I am hoping as soon as I get some HPDE seat time in either a C6 Z06 or C7 Grand Sport, I can finally decide on either the enjoyment of a 2nd Corvette in the stable or go back to an old friend.

Well, my wife daily drives a 2017 Jaguar XE R-Sport diesel. That's about the extent of my European tour (at least as far as ownership goes).

Over the years, I've had three Bimmers. 2008 528, 2009 335i and just recently a 2011 Z4 35iS. I kinda miss the 335i and the Z4 35iS, but miss the C5 more so I got
a 2009 C6. The BMWs are nice riding road cars, but not visceral enough. Similar to the old 1985 FXWG solid mount Harley which I wish I still had. If I can't feel it, it ain't no fun. I know, I'm an odd duck.

Not before, because I'm smarter than the average bear. But I did acquire a BMW Mini for a littlee bit. Fun car, but the Germans really nickel and dime you. It's like it's own little payment, and there's always something worn out. Bushings or bearings or this or that.... Everything has an expected life half to a quarter of what it is on an American car. And then if you don't want to replace stuff all the time you have to buy a more expensive aftermarket part. Real pain, but the car was fun.

"nickel and dime you".... That's the phrase that fits the one BMW that I owned!..what a POS!.... Corvette rules!.... Checkout IMSA racing for a reality check on the domestic position held by the Corvette, Porsche, Ferrari and BMW....
