Default Morimoto Xb headlight issue

Hi just curious if anyone knows about these around here. I just got the Morimoto xb headlights for my z06 and installed them yesterday. Literally had it on the road for an hour when the driver side headlight went out. DRL and turn signals work fine just no headlight. The headlight is powered by the low beam circuit and all wires and connections seem good. No fuses blown or anything, is there something I’m missing or do I have to send it back?

Hi John - have you checked with the vendor who you ordered the lights from?

I agree. Have you contacted your vendor? The lights have a 5 year warranty so the vendor should be willing to help you figure out what's going on.

This sucks donkey *****. He will spend more time trouble shooting and/or getting a replacement than he had with a $650+ working headlight. That's not even counting the time to remove and replace.

Got it from Cole at vette lights, never had any issues with them and he gave me some trouble shooting things, none of them worked, probably just going to go to Morimoto to see what’s up, still sucks though. Thanks any ways guys

Post like this keeps me from pulling the trigger on ordering a set. Just when I’m about to order a set right now.🤨

I know gm had a recall on c6 headlights for 2005, 2006 and 2007. The low beam would stop working but all other lights function like normal. It wasn’t a issue with the headlight from what I read but a wire issue under the hood.

Did you have the headlight recall done lately?
Go into your fuse box in the engine bay and make sure all the silver screws are tightened down that hold the fuse box in, when they aren't it causes the headlight relay to not be tight and the drivers headlight doesn't work.
Turn your headlights on, push down on the relay and see if light comes on.

This is a good start point.

Shot you an email yesterday evening with a couple of other thoughts on some easier troubleshooting checkpoints. If still no avail, we can certainly get you swapped out for a new unit - I just like to exhaust the easy solutions prior to reverting to having to reinstall a new unit. Either way, you'll be good to go man!

This is a great point! This actually affected one of my prior C6's.

As far as the fuse box thing, I actually had to replace it due to some other issue, so it’s all tightened down. I’m gonna mess with it a little more and see

I'm having a similar issue, only mine is related to the DRL. All functions of the driver side assembly "work". But, when the car is switched to "auto" on the stalk, the driver side DRL does not work, but the passenger side does. The low/high beams work on both normally in all instances and the turn signals work in all instances. However, when I switch the stalk to "low" or "parking lights", the DRLs on both sides work as they should.

Long story short, I have an issue with how the assembly is reacting to the "auto" headlamp function as compared to the other selections, and ONLY on the driver side. I popped the fuse box and pulled/re-seated every seemingly related fuse to no avail. I have sent an email to Cole at Vette Lights and am waiting for some suggestions from him.

I'll keep you all posted!

I know, right. I was just starting to get used to the look, then 3-4 threads on this issue in as many weeks. Luckily, I haven't fallen in love I guess.

Oh well. I guess we’ll have to wait a little longer.

My bet is that the extra wire harness that was developed for turn signal and brake light problems will fix this issue.

The headlight beam not working is seemingly a newly manifested problem.

Personally, I have faith that Cole will make the OP whole after the troubleshooting. Cole has been a standup guy for the entire Morimoto thing. I was a very earlier adopter and so far my headlights (and taillights, and fogs) are holding up great. There are bound to be failures ... that is what the warranty is for. So far, the products have solved many more problems than they have created, at least for me.

I have the tail lights as well and I’ve never had any issues with them, things happen and I’m already working with Cole to sort it out. Only thing that a little annoying is another wait time lol but can’t help that either
