Hello Everyone,
I recently purchased My very first Corvette Base 2005 Automatic and I have ALOT of questions as Ive never owned one. I hope I can find the answers im looking for as I am worried because I bought it in Vegas yesterday and drove it back to Denver same day & it drove perfectly fine on my way home, until the next day (today) when I drove it... Now Its having a hard time shifting to second gear, even though it does engage, it takes about 4-5 seconds to shift out of 1st into second and it sounds forced. All other gears seem to engage perfectly but it sounds like first is forcing to shift to second and it also sounds like a grinding sound. As I mentioned, It drove perfectly fine when I test drove it ran and performed great but I am really worried this will be an expensive fix, but hopefully you guys can help me get through this and shed some light on what it could potentially be and what what are some things I should try before I start to think I have to replace/rebuild the transmission... Also does anyone know a reliable mechanic/ shop in Denver Colorado where I can get this checked out?
Thank you!

Did you check the trans fluid? What color is it? It should only be checked once the car is (engine/trans) warm. Under light acceleration at what RPM does it shift to 2nd gear?

So it hangs in 1st, isnt slipping but just takes longer?
Cant help but wonder if you dont have a sticky solenoid. Had that issue with a few GM ODs, a flush and a can of Lucas non slip eliminated that.
First thing is checking the fluid level and color

Welcome to the Forum it's a great place to get informations.
You don't mentioned how many miles on the car, it does require serving, every 50,000 and I believe 5 years.
Did the person that sold you the car kept record like most people with Corvette keeps very good recorded of repairs and service.
Incase you didn't get the manual, here is link to your service manual.
