Question on exhaust...
Question on exhaust..I have a base 2007 that is bone stock. Its the z51 so its got the track stuff on it. It looks mean, but just dosent sound like it looks. I dont have a bunch of money right now to throw at it. I want a good deep rumble, but not the dreaded drone inside. I have looked at a few but always seem to get scared away for fear I will buy one and regret how it sounds. What is everyones opinion on what to get? Prob axle back for now?

My advise I give to people is to ride in Corvette with different exhaust systems if possible. Remember different systems sound different in coupes and convertibles because of the coupes large hatch area that amplifies the sound inside the car. Watch out for systems that produce a higher drone usually between 1200 and 1700 RPM especially under load, which is really noticeable in coupes. Corsa usually has the least drone but not as deep sound as the Borlas with considerable drone. Hedders and high flow cats will also make a difference in sound regardless of the brand. You may be able to find a good gently used system here on the Forum under C-6 parts for sale. Exhaust sound is a personal thing that only your ears will know when it is right for you.

Working on a limited budget, I suggest that you look at the muffler mod https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ler-mod-7.html. It is a long post with a lot of replies, but go down to post #127 and it will show you exactly what to do.
Many on the forum have done this and many will also tell you that you own a Corvette and you should not go around cutting holes in the mufflers. This will give you a better rumble but with that it does come with a drone. Not a real bad drone, but still a drone. I did it to my '07 a few years ago, but I have since added a cat back.

I have an 07 Z51 base also. Bought in 2015. I'm in NY. I was in the same position as you to get the right sound and not have that dreaded drone. Did my search for a few months. Went to the car show and cruises asking guys if I could hear their exhaust system. All the corvette brothers I ask were very much accommodating. Not one said no! So, after all that I decided to go to Carlisle, PA for the corvettes at Carlisle in August of 2015 to hear all the vender exhaust systems. I chose the Borla S Type II. I love the sound and no drone and a nice pop! I did the Cat back. But then the next February I did ARH. Simply Awesome! I'll see if I can up load the video sound my exhaust.

If you're on a tight budget, can get an exhaust shop to weld replace the mufflers, with aftermarket ones (don't know about your application, but have done this a few times). Usually much less than an entire catback system (which I def recommend).
You could also consider straight pipes, however, will be far louder as you increase mods, might be illegal, and I don't know about drone. Nothing cheaper than simply removing the mufflers though...not uncommon.

I provided an actual suggestion to his questions concerning 1. An exhaust with more rumble & no drone & 2. A vendor with great pricing to address his “not a bunch of money” considering I don’t know what a bunch of money is to the OP.
You provided no valuable answer to his questions & have no basic comprehension skills yourself. Thanks for playing.

Obviously for the both of you scholars. Do either of you know the OP’s financial situation or the exact amount that equates to “a bunch of money”?

Not to mention there is no complete cat back system to fits a "tight budget", but the exhaust mod can be done for free if you or a friend possess even moderate welding skill.
But thanks for proving my point about reading comprehension not being a requirement to post. Now why don't you go back to the kitchen and chat with the girls, men are talking here.

Buy some used Corsa Sports from the C6 parts section. Those will do the trick.

If you can come up with $1300 you can get several systems, not Corsa but several.

Manual trans cars seem to sound good with a performance exhaust, imho the auto trans cars don’t, again my tastes and opinion only. My 2010 C6 is the first auto tranny Vette I’ve had and I did the muffler mod, it’s perfect for me.
