Doors won’t open intermittently
2007 base 1LT coupe.
Every once in a while the doors won’t let us out and the fobs have fresh batteries.
When the car is running and I drop my wife off, she always has success in getting out by firstly hitting the unlock button, the door works as designed.
Sometimes when I get out all that happens is the window drops it’s customary half inch but the door doesn’t fully unlatch.
First thing I’m going to try is I ordered a new outside touch pad opener for the drivers side. Easy to install so I will try that.
All the search topics are all over the map but one did say to try that.

My interior button was also faulty. I replaced both outside touch pads and both buttons and both doors work perfectly. Took about 15 minutes to do the swap, with time for a cold beverage between doors.

That's the way mine acted recently. I cleaned the door switches which didn't help.
If neither the interior or exterior door switches open the latch, you likely have a bad door latch.
That was my problem. It's prevalent on the driver's side door.
Ordered the latch assembly and installed it yesterday.
Back in business now.
Search the forum for threads describing how to change it. There are also Youtube videos that are helpful.
It's not difficult, but removing the trim panels can be a bit tricky.

Let’s say I pull up to a stop to let the wife out, car still running. The way that works 100% of the time for her is to hit the unlock first.
Is this normal, hit the unlock before you can exit?

Had that happen to me. Ended up fixing it with a new battery (in the car). Car cranked fine for 2-3 months while the doors were intermittent. Once battery started to die I replaced the battery and door issue went away instantly.

Replacing or cleaning the door pad will not fix the problem of opening the door from the inside. 99% of the time, the problem is the latch assembly, which will eventually quit completely. The fact that the window drops normally, indicates the power and wiring is working, but the latch solenoid is not.
I hope you know about the manual latch release on the floor, in case the solenoid fails completely.

On mine, neither door will open without hitting unlock button when car is running. Possibly it could be defeated with personal settings and auto lock features but I haven’t investigated it. My windows won’t index until door button is actually activated. When my door started to hang up I cleaned the latch assembly and greased it lightly. Seven years later and still no reoccurrence of problem.
