Default New tires

I know this topic has been beat to death but one more time. I am replacing the original Good Years on my 2012 GS with stock chrome wheels. I like the Michelin AS3 Plus. I can`t be talked out of run flats as I get flats at the worst times and places. I really like the Pilot Cup tires but I do drive the car in the winter at times. Can anyone post some pics of the AS3 Plus tires on their GS and any comments? Thanks

I think they look great! The sidewalls look awesome and the tread has a slight profile from the side that looks good. From behind they look awesome, but most 325 sports car tires will look awesome just from the width alone. They are quieter than the summer only’s. Mine are ZP too (run flats)

Those wheels look fantastic on that C-6. And I believe they are factory GS mounts correct? I'm one of the notorious forum black wheel bashers....LOL. And after seeing those nice chrome jobs i'm proud of it !!!!

I just had the A/S 3+ ZPs installed last Thursday on my 2009 coupe and I feel they are a real improvement over the previous G/Y F1 EMTs. It's only been a few days but I'm very happy with these. These are softer and more quiet than the G/Ys and cornering seems fine. These are way better in the cold weather too. I'm in NJ and it's my daily driver when it's not raining/snowing.

I have the AS3 Plus tires on my base coupe. Overall, I am very pleased with them and would certainly recommend them to a fellow Corvette owner. They offer great grip in both dry and wet conditions. There is some slight noise but this is to be expected with a run flat tire. I purchased them from a Chevy dealer last Spring when Michelin was offering a buy three get one free promo that surprisingly included this tire so I jumped on that offer. This is a great tire for year round driving conditions.

Elaborate on the driving your car in winter at times thing. Are you talking like balmy days where the roads are clear? Maybe it gets into the 40-50 degree range? If so ... buy a non RF summer tire and call it a day.

Tires are the single most important performance part on your vehicle, why anyone would elect to put all seasons on over a summer tire baffles me.

Why All Seasons? Easy.. it rains here and I actually like to drive my car year round.
Was on several road trips last year through the mountains and had lots of weather changes.
Throw in the crazy weather changes between now and June in the PNW and it's just smart to NOT run a summer only here unless it's going to sit in the garage.

It rains a ton in Ohio too, I drive my car ALOT. A decent summer tire can handle rain. A top of the line one you won't even notice its raining.

I'm a huge fan of the Michelin Pilot Sport AS3s. I had a 15 C7 and replaced the OEM Michelin run flats with the AS3s and they made a huge difference. Softer ride, much less road noise, and they completely eliminated the Ackerman Effect (front wheel hop) the C7 has on cold tires. I don't pay attention to the people who knock them because of handling, traction, etc.......because in my experience there was no big difference and the trade off is worth it, especially if you daily drive the car.

I have a fairly new set of Goodyear run flats on my 09 C6 that will be replaced with the Michelin AS tires as soon as they show a little wear. I just had a Vengeance Racing package put on my engine so some burn outs will be in order to make the tire swap happen sooner than later!

That's a great looking GS and I love the wheels too. I bought some for my 01 C5 and they made it look so much better.

I've found that I certainly notice it when you get below 60 degrees - if you push it with any Michelin, Nitto, or Cooper tire, with the exception of the Michelin A/S he mentions above, for the Z06/GS sizes.

Over the past 8 years I've had several different sets them on my vette, including track days.

From my experience, for a street tire that will give you CONSISTANT very good traction, the only other street tire that I have found that competes is the Bridgestone Potenza Pole RF.

My definition of very good performance is triple the curve posted speed limit easily in curves, and 4 times it if you have clean roads.

I have 20 mph cloverleafs that I drive daily, and routinely take them 60 - 80 mph with either these A/S Michelins or the Bridgestones. Every other tire would simply not do it consistently in the varying temps.

I have the AS3 runflats on my 05 Z51. They are great tires, they handle great, they maintain grip in rainy weather, the stop good, the ride is comfortable. I've had them on for almost 11 months now, I daily drive my car, it is a good tire. Then again, my last set of tires were the ones i bought the car with which were a 2010 super sports that were cracked and were horrible.

I also live on L.I. and have the Michelin Pilot Sport AS run flats and drive all year long. Just not in the snow and at temps below 20 degrees. You won't be sorry! Go for it!

why dont you just get better summer tires with great hydroplaning (because you can even track with summer tires in wet surfaces). If you still had the stock tires you obviously (probably) never experienced a good summer tire. Those goodyear runflat on your car are probably the worst tire in the world and I'm not kidding
