New Tires For a 2007 Convertible
We just bought a used 2007 Corvette Convertible (30K Miles) and need to replace the tires. We live in south Florida so all season tires are not a necessity. We are seniors so do not drive the corvette much or very hard so we are looking for a mid to higher level performance tire at a "reasonable" price. Your suggestions will be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. I too live in Florida . I would stay away from Goodyear runflats . They are noisy tires and hard rubber. If you want a premium tire I would go with Michelin’s . You will see what others have as they chime in. Many good less expensive brands out there. I also have an 07 Vert . Good Luck!

There are probably hundreds of threads on this subject, but I'll bite.
Your first decision is whether you need runflats or not.
Many here recommend Michelins. Yes, they're great tires, but necessary for the vast majority of people, no.
For your needs, any name brand tire other than Goodyear will be fine.

I would tend to agree, for your use, any tire will be fine. I wouldn't bother with anything too aggressive either. Something like a Cooper rs3s would probably be fine for you, without breaking the bank.

I'm currently running Ohtsu FP8000 on my base convertible. Very inexpensive, but I love them. Drove from PA , several runs through deal's gap (tail of the dragon - NC) and back..... and half dozen passes on drag strip and have ZERO complaints!
Can get 285/35/19 for $250 for a pair including shipping ...... can't beat it!
made by Falken
I have an extra set in my garage for when I need them

I went with the Continental Extreme Contact Sport Plus tires for my 2007 Convertible.
I just bought them last fall so to early for an opinion.
A lot of good choices on tires, really can't go wrong with any major brand.

You have to decide if you want run flats or not. Run flats cost more and will make the car ride a little harder. They will aslo greatly limit your choice of manufacturer.
For my peace of mind I will be going with a set of Michelin AS3+ ZP .

I would recommend Michelin AS plus.. they are a multi season tire but where they shine is in the rain. In Florida you will be likely to end up in a shower here or there and don’t have to worry about hydroplaning . You can get them in run flat or not. Ride quiet as well. Kuhmo worked well for me too but not like the Michelin’s .

I have same. They are all season - NOT RUNFLATS. Having said that—smoother ride and lots quieter than run flats

I have a set of Michelin PS4S on my Hellcat and love them, little pricey but worth it but on my 06 c6 I just put Firestone Indy 500 and love them also. Not run flats and not z rated but like OEM tires but if your not going to 160 mph or higher they will do just fine. My vette handle even better with the Firestone’s than the stock f1 Goodyear tires.

Z and ZR really haven’t meant anything on a tire for the last several years since W, Y, and (Y) ratings came into existence.

These tires are $709.96 shipped from Tire Rack. Very good and perform very well. My brother clued me into these and I have zero regrets getting them. A vast improvement over the stock Goodyear runflats...a great price too!
