Default Has active handling ever saved or helped?

I've read here about people that have had the AH come on and almost caused them to wreck or lose control. Has it ever came on to help you regain control? What are your experiences good or bad.

One time on my way home from a road trip and was in the middle of a 3 lane west bound road at a stop light. When the light turned green the truck ahead of me stalled and put his hazards on. I tried to change lanes from a stop to the right lane and gave it some gas and the left front brake would lock up then disengage rapidly and kept doing it. I had to push the gas pretty hard as it kept doing it until I could pull over about 70 feet away. I turned off the engine then restarted and all was good. That happened over a year ago and I haven't had any AH problems since.

I've felt it numerous times. I definitely think it helps. Usually unwanted though for me. I do turn it all the way off for autocross because it slows you down and i don't think even competition mode can handle the limit very well, too intrusive. On the street i use competition and even that I've felt kick in. I like competition on street though. I think its possible active handling could hurt in certain rare situations, anything is possible, but it has stabilized me everytime I've felt it. Slowing and stabilizing.

I find that full on its a bit too sensitive. There's one corner by me that I goose the throttle a bit to kick the tail out. Did it with all the nannies on and the car pretty much stopped. Now I use comp mode unless it's raining. Then I just leave it full on. I think it would help if you ever got into trouble.

These cars can get away from you in a quick fashion, On the street, active handling helps more than most folks will admit

The only time I turn the nannies off is at the drags, and then only the TC.
At a night race years ago, I hit a water puddle left by the previous racer who blew a radiator hose about 300 feet from the end. The car started to spin and both of us (me and AH) tried to correct. My input caused the AH to reverse as it saw it as an over-correction. I lost 8 MPH from the previous pass and went through the lights off throttle, but pointed the right direction. How much was me and how much was AH, I don't know or care, since I didn't crash. AH has activated several times since then, but only at real low speeds around town.

it is a bit odd but when I had my C5 the active handling was activated a lot of the time on the street -- my 2 C6 Grand Sports have only had it activated 1 time and that was on a wet road and was by myself and no other cars and I hit the gas pedal - it came on. Dont know if the C5 being an Automatic and the C6s being M6 has anything to do with the difference.

In the esses at Road Atlanta once. I didn't brake enough, Came in WAY too hot, couldn't get around the ess, went 3.9 wheels off the track, but kept it straight and Active Handling helped out, ended up back all 4 on track and all was good.

I leave it all on and have only noticed it come on unnecessarily once. It was a fast sweeping curve to the right on a country road. The car didn't feel loose at all, but I know it was getting closer to the edge. The warning flashed and the brakes were applied a little. The intervention was quite the surprise, but it kept the car tracked.

I floored it getting on the interstate in a small curve and would probably have been facing the wrong direction if not for the active handling. Car wants to go sideways every time I put it to the floor, active handling is useful for that.

That's typical. Happens to me all the time. Competitive Driving mode works best to kick the back end out.

I read here that the traction control is so intrusive because the rear end and mounts were prone to breaking and the traction control intervenes particularly on bumpy roads. I can't very that but it makes sense.

As valuable as AH is, never rely on it.
Getting outa shape w/ C6 usually includes rear end snaps proportional to speed & direction.
Hauling *** this snap occurs faster than computer can calculate for correction.
When its happened to me I was on my own to demo/apply my 'driving skills'.

For 'events' happening in slower time frames' AH is just fine, works as designed.

I use the nannies on road courses and found if you keep the car balanced in the turns they won't interfere much. The issue that comes up most often where computer intervention is desirable is sudden throttle oversteer as HOXXOH points out. I've had it kick in during rainy track session while exploring the limits and realize how quickly the rear end will break away from you. I also had it kick in on a dry day going through a corner I had been through dozens of times. As I gently accelerated out of the turn the rear end broke loose very quickly and the nannies helped with recovery. With autocross and driver skill events, I would turn them off because speeds are lower and transitions can be very quick which would confuse the computer, and there is generally enough safety room. There are numerous you-tube videos documenting just how quickly these cars can get away from you.

Even when I'm in a " sporty mood" on the street I've never really noticed the AH but then again I suppose that's the point. I have done a few track days when I didn't override the AH and barely noticed any difference. These were on a large track (Road America) with lots of room, I have not done any autocross or small tight tracks that might make a difference.

Might be just me but I don’t think any safety feature the Corvette has is going to save your tail in a curve under FULL acceleration

I've had lots of times I would have expected it to do something, and it didn't. Not sure how to set it like everyone here is saying. I've got mag ride and I assume AH is std on a 427. My car allows me to ignite the tires without TC kicking in, and I've had it in a slide without AH kicking in. And I don't turn anything off, so unless it's off by default, I have no idea why it doesn't do anything.

Saved me once in the rain on the highway when I went across 3 lanes, but generally just letting off the throttle, not touching brakes and letting the car catch itself has worked for me for years.. Seen so many people slam on the brakes when they start sliding, give it way too much steering and lose their cars over the years.

Generally, I drive in Comp Mode, unless I am driving in the rain where I just keep it on with my R888r's to play it safe.
