Replacement Shocks
I have a 2012 CentGS in need of shocks. As its my daily driver, I can't come up with a logical reason to pay $1200+ for new ride control shocks. Can anyone provide information
and opinions on good replacements. I know that I will have to install the simulators, so that is not the issue. I am considering the QA1 non adjustable,
(daily driver, remember?) and coil overs would also be a bit of overkill. I like the QA1's vs the Bilstein as they are rebuildable.
Any & all help will be appreciated

I put the Z06 shocks all around on mine, pretty sure a few others have done the same. Don't waste money on the simulators, find somebody with a Tech 2 clone, takes 5 minutes to code them out

^^^What he said. The Tech 2 is the correct way to remove the mag ride shocks.

Why do you need to replace you ride control system?

As mentioned, get a good set of Bilstein shocks of your liking, get the Mag shocks removed from the system with a tech II. A dealer can do it if you don't know anyone with a clone. They may charge you an hour of labor, but still cheaper than buying simulators.
Good luck

Still do not understand why the need to replace the MRC system and go backwards with old school suspension.

Mine right now are leaking and I bounce to much. In my C5 when I did it they were leaking and I could feel every bump on the road.
Went to C6 Z06 shocks and more of a stiff performance ride that felt smooth.

They leak and each one is $400-$500 EACH. So instead of paying $2000 (plus labor for some people) for shocks that dont last as long as normal shocks. Amazon 4- z06 shocks $230 with prime or $400 for set of Bilstein's with Prime. I rather go old and save then pay that much and have them go out again.

Thanks to all that replied.
For those wondering why I'm going old school, my mag ride shocks were leaking really bad. Car bounced nonstop. On the lift, oil covered the shocks. I considered the Bilstein's,
but decided on the QA1 non-adjustable shocks. Chose these because they are rebuildable and went non adjustable as the car is my daily driver, street driven only.
I have the simulators and will probably go with them as I've not found anyone with a tech 2.
Anyone used the simulators, or this brand shock absorber?
Having everything installed on Monday.
