Default Travelling with 2 fobs...

I use the passive door lock, (doors lock when leaving car) and it works great.
When travelling across country, I carry both fobs on my person.
Did you know?
With both fobs, the auto (passive) door lock will not work.
Glad I found this out, because when I stop for gas, the doors were not locking.
So now when I travel, I turn off the passive, and use the manual lock on the fob.

That's good to know for sure. I also have passive locking, so when we travel, I always keep FOB #1 on my person, and the 2nd FOB is kept in my wife's purse. There's a better than good chance that one of us will have a key FOB on us. The spare FOB is kept in a Faraday Key Fob Bag, which prevents radio signals from reaching the FOB, or for it to transmit.
I also keep a spare key in my wallet. there is no way that both of us would leave the vehicle without either a wallet, or a purse.
We have it well covered.

Maybe it's got something to do with both fobs exiting the car at the same time. Easy to test. I've done numerous trips with a codriver who had one of my fobs, and the autolock always worked when we got out.

There is no reason for autolock to not work just because there are 2 FOBs. When the last door closes a timer starts. 10 seconds later the car checks to see if it can find a FOB inside the car. If it can it beeps the horn to tell you that you forgot to remove a FOB. If it can't because the FOB is too far away from the antennas to be found, the doors will lock. The car does not count the number of FOBs entering or leaving. It only looks for a FOB when the computer tells it to look for a FOB. Using the manual button on a FOB to lock the doors would make no difference except to shorten the timer for when to look for a FOB inside.

So if you have both FOBs with you, how did you determine that the doors were not locking? The locking/unlocking sequence is rather complicated and non-intuitive so many if not most people think the locking/unlocking is determined by the proximity of the FOB to the car which it is not.

I have done many tests, by walking away with 2 fobs, then leaving them in the house coming back and
doors were unlocked.
Repeating with 1 fob and find it's locked.

Just tried it now with fobs 1 and 2 in my pocket. When I got out of the car, and closed the door, it autolocked about 10 sec later. Left the fobs in the house, went back to check, and it's still locked. All I can say is that autolocking works with 2 fobs in and out of the car on my '11.

That's interesting, I should have mentioned mine is a 09 coupe.
I don't have the "fob left in car" warning turned on.
Maybe that's got something to do with it??

FWIW: If you use the lock button on the door panel when you get out, it will save the fob battery. Plus you don't have to take it out of your pocket.

Yah, I was REALLY shocked, after stopping at several gas stations with laptop on front seat
and many valuables in the car.
That it wasn't locking.
Thought I better put this in the forum.
Now that I know some DO work with 2 ...I will find out why.
I will turn ON the fob left in car warning and try it.

How do you know which fob is the primary?

Normally it is fob marked #1 that has been programmed to be the primary initially. It is also possible to reprogram any FOB to be the primary FOB.
The vehicle comes standard with two transmitters, and up to four can be matched to your vehicle. The owners manual explains how to program the FOB's.

I'd just not bring both fobs. Seems like the easy solution here.

The one advantage you have with the C6 if you leave it unlocked, is most people don't know how to, or have a hard time with the finger pad! I've seen this numerous times at car auctions, and once at the Corvette Museum entrance where they had a C7 vert. on display. Waiting for my wife to return from the ladies room, watching people that wanted to get in, and couldn't open the door. I'd walk up and open the driver's door immediately.

Each fob has its' own bundle of pre-sets, including Auto-Lock.

Do you have Auto-Lock turned on for both fobs?

If not what's probably happening is that when you unlock/open the door, the car is recognizing the fob (closest to the antenna) that may not have Auto-Lock programmed for it.

I have 2 different DIC greetings so I know which fob has been recognized.

It's not about exiting the car, it's about what happens when you approach/enter.

My best guess for your issue, anyway..........

Don’t like the auto lock. First thing I turned off when I got my car.

Same here. When I go to population centers, I just manually lock it on the door panel.

Just remember that only fobs programmed as #1 or #2 have the auto-lock capability. I thought that if 2 fobs entered the car together, the lower fob # would be used unless you pressed a button to tell the car which one to use. Maybe that lower fob # does not have the auto-lock set.

That sounds right, bought the 09 when it was 2 years old, it only had 1 fob.
Seller told me to get second fob from dealership and he paid for it.
Dealership programmed second fob.

Of course, that could be the answer. I never have 2 active FOBs in range of an antenna. When traveling I keep a second FOB in the back where it can't be seen by any of the antennas. So I didn't think about only 1 FOB being the issue When you enter the car the first FOB recognized is the one that determines the control features for that driving session. If that FOB doesn't have autolock turned on then it won't try to lock when the session is ended. You can change the recognized FOB with the #1 and #2 buttons on the driver's door. That would make testing easier and I would have done that testing if my car wasn't sitting in the garage with the battery disconnected. .
