Default Just found couple small oil drips when I moved Vette

My C6 is not a daily driver, in fact I drove it the other day for first time in probably a month .

Stays in our garage, only car we keep in there

I moved it out to sweep floor and noticed a couple very small but fresh oil spots bout size of a dime maybe.

Oil is changed every year in August Never more than 3000 miles or so in a year I would guess if that

55K miles on it now

If the oil was just changed in August, could be from a sloppy oil change, loose filter or loose drain plug.

Other likely culprit could be the oil pan.

If there is a leak that leaves a drop on the floor, there will generally be a stain of wet black dirt on some part of the car. Crawl under there and have a look.

Had to take a leak because you don't take her out enough! Now seriously.... If it's only "dime sized" after a month as you noted , I wouldn't worry about it., but if you must, wipe the bottom of the engine & trans.....go for a drive & get the engine up to operating temp. Before you pull back into your garage, lay down sheets of newspaper under the suspect areas....then drive in, park overnight & without moving the car, check for oil spots to try to determine where the leaks might be coming from.

Oil pan could be a likely culprit if all checks out with the last oil change.

I doesn’t seem like the OP was asking for our advice. More like just keeping us abreast of the facts.

Sorry.

Was watching football while typing this

Yes was asking what it could be, BIL owns local Goodyear shop and they change oil for me but to be honest not sure I had it changed this August Been very busy at my office but have to run my truck by for service this week

First thing I thought about was sloppy oil change but that is when I got to wondering IF I had it done this year. If it has not been changed that was what I was wondering what the culprit could be.

Seems to be on right side of engine if that helps anyone

Very simple .... Get the front of the car up high enough that you can get under it ... and with good light, see where it's leaking from.

Easy Peasy ....

My C5 back in the day was leaking from the drain bolt because the recessed rubber washer is built into the bolt and was in poor shape. Replaced the bolt and no more leaks. It is the same design for the c6.

The OP's car could be leaking engine oil from one of many places.

There is no way that we can sit here and troubleshoot his leaking problem.

The OP (or someone else) needs to get the car up in the air and visually check to see where the oil is coming from.

It's as simple as that ....

Thanks

Going to take it to shop this week, just wondered if something “typical” to look for.

Just bugged crap out of me yesterday when I saw it

The LS oil pans have a tendency over time to leak from the front corners where the OEM sealant dries out and begins to leak. The only fix is to drop the pan and replace the gasket with sealer on both sides of the gasket. this can be a DIY project but only you are a pretty decent mechanic and have the metric tools to do it. YouTube has a couple of videos on the process. A shop will charge somewhere around $700 plus or minus to do the job. Before changing the pan gasket clean the area and change the oil. Check every couple of days to confirm specifically where the leak is coming from. It all depends on how bad the leak is and how much it bothers you.
