Best Replacement Tire for Firestone RunFlats?
Over the years have had three sets of Firestone run flats - very pleased - good handling - quiet - long life.
Unfortunately they are no longer available. Has anyone switched from Firestone to Michelin run flats? Your impression would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Have not switched but am bummed to hear Firestone is no longer available. I have over 26,800 miles on my Firestones and they still look great!

I'm very happy with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 + Run Flats.
It's an ultra high performance all season tire.
I have them about a year now.

I use the annual tire ratings in Consumer Reports, in conjunction with the actual test results on the Tire Rack website. No, not the “customer ratings” on the Tire Rack website which are–at best–anecdotal and frequently questionable. I am referring to Tire Rack’s own test results.
Everyone has his/her own personal prejudices regarding tire brands, but–of course–that is just more anecdotal stuff. For example, I would never again buy either Continental or Bridgestone tires, but others will sing the praises of those brands.
Similarly, I will now buy ONLY Michelin tires, but you will inevitably find some “customer reviews” that claimed their Michelin tires caused their hair to fall out, or caused their cat to die.
(Hint: IGNORE the customer ratings on the Tire Rack website.)

Rich Farr, I'm looking at getting some Firestone Wide Oval RFs which are still readily available here in CA it seems. I see them at tire-rack also.....I checked at my local Firestone dealership about 2 weeks ago and there were 30 sets in their warehouse up in Riverside. So they are still out there.

Thanks for the info everyone!
Firestone dealers in Canada said not available and one U.S. dealer also said not available. Just tried another U.S. dealer - they can have in one day.

I put on the Michelin A/S 3+ run flats a few months ago. I like them. No issues at all.

A/S 3+ is a solid performer with good treadwear. Many people scoff at putting an all season tire on these cars but if you look at the numbers in the tire rack tests its performance fits right in with the max performance summer tires.

Same car and tire size for both of those tests.

Pilot Supersport on my 09z. I bought it used with them on it and its consistently rated as among the best in category on Tire Rack, I believe they were used by several driving schools as well until the newer Michelin options came out. Ive always liked their performance and ride, too.
