Front Bumper / Air Dam Ground Clearance
Looking at getting a C6 and am wanting to know how the ground clearance is on the front end compared to a C5. I have a steep driveway and the complete front bumper scraped on the C5. I have not had a chance to find a stock ride height C6 to test. So thought I would ask.

Having owned both I can honestly say it's pretty much the same.

Whenever my GS scrapes, it's always the air dam under the front of the car and not the front chin splitter.
I am thinking about completely removing this 3-piece air dam.

Just keep spare pieces in the garage and replace when necessary. I do not remove anything that catches low flying stones and bugs.

I would didagree. My buddynyas a c5z that never ever scrapes. My GS scrapds all the time. I scrape many places he doesnt, and he doesnt scrape on places i dont even bother with. Both cars stock ride height.

4" on the C6s I had. Had to leave my 08 and my 012 Vettes parked in front of my sister's house when I went there to see my mother. Her driveway was somewhere between 30° and 40°.

The front spoiler on my ‘10 GS scraped all the time....kept pulling loose mainly right in the center of the car, but alot of the other mounting points were pulled thru as well but would tighten up a bit. Finally got pissed off enough that I said to hell with it, took it off and put it in the shed until I can get a new bumper cover.

My GS is stock height and the underneath air dam scrapes going in and out of my not-very-steep driveway when backing in, unless I hit the perfect angle. The outer corners of the splitter very lightly scrape on the road in a couple of places going in and out of our subdivision. The places that it scrapes at are dips in the road that I take at the 30 mph speed limit. It doesn't scrape if I slow down to 25 mph or if I let the tire pressure get to 32 psi, so I hope it will eventually self clearance. I clean the plastic "whiskers" off with a file a couple of times a year. You can't see them unless you lie down on the ground and look for them.
