Manual. He called heads manual and tails auto. When I flipped it it fell off my desk and hit the floor, it was tails. He asked for a do over. Second flip was heads. We went outside and looked at a WRX we had setting out front that was sold. It was a manual and had a penny setting next to it that was heads side up.

It wasnt like he just went with a random car on a coin toss. He had a 2017 WRX with a cvt and totalled it. The trans was the only thing he was flipping on. He has a Supra and this is his DD.

I'm not sure why you have an issue with someone making a decision based on a coin toss when they feel either way they go is good. You make it sound like if he lost the coin toss he was getting something he didn't want. He already knew the year, make, model, trim level that he wanted. He was on the fence when it came to the transmission.
