I've had 2 C5's and 2 C6's and the C6 is definitely quieter.

I didn't see much difference in my C-5 or C-6!

I had a 99 C5 and now have a 13GS. I think the tires make a big impact on the noise. Run flats were loud in both models.

I had a 1999 and now have a 2012. Had the same michelin tires on both. The 2012 is definitely quieter.

Probably too window indexing. C5s have been known to have the windows pull out at high speeds. Same with F-Bodies.

What you have here is a first world problem, the amount of noise I hear in my 12' is almost nothing, but I'm comparing it to a C3. Its really all relative, the C6 is an engineering marvel.

I added front/rear sound insulation in my old C5 FRC and the C6 GS is still quieter.

I had both and agree with the others that C6 is quieter, but I think the difference is slight. Tire condition is by far a bigger factor. A C5 with low mileage tires is clearly much quieter than a C6 with aged tires. So for example, if you were to compare a C6 with 12,000 mile tires to a C5 with 1200 mile tires, you would conclude that the C5 is way, way quieter. I’m just guessing here, but I’d guess the tire mileage offset is about 4 or 5 thousand miles. So for example, a C6 with 10,000 mile tires would be equal noise to a C5 with 5-6000 mile tires. On both cars, I usually bought tires with 3 or 4 mm of tread left rather than the minimum 2 mm, simply because the tire noise had gotten so obnoxious that I couldn’t stand it anymore.

I had a '03 - now a '08 - don't really notice a noise difference - but I'm nearly deaf sooooo - I can tell for sure that the C6 is a far better car.

Had a 2002 Z06 then traded it for a 2011 Grand Sport. The C5 was definitely louder.

I can't help with the C5 vs C6 as I have not owned a C5, but I currently own a C6 vert & it is definitely quieter than the C6 coupe that I had
