Default COSTCO tire center does a great job, again

At 17,600 miles I had my '13 Grand Sport's tires replaced at Costco. The manager of the tire center did the install and made sure not to scratch my chrome wheels. Totally satisfied. Three and a half years later at 57,000 miles, I needed a new set. At this Costco, the manager of the Tire Center has 15 years experience and insisted on doing the job himself. Even suggested that if I was willing to meet him at 7 am, he would open up early to do the job immediately. Did that this morning and the install took one hour and fifteen minutes. He did not scratch the wheels and I am enjoying my Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 run-flats. The installer was competent, conscientious and respectfully declined my 'tip stating that it was against policy. I will make it up to him some other way. Out the door price including mounting and balance was $1483.02.

My Costco here in Mobile would not mount my tires on the car. I would have had to take my wheels off and bring them to him and he would mount the tires for me .Needless to say I went elsewhere

I'm glad to hear you had a good experience with Costco. Unfortunately, I did not have the same experience with my truck when I bought a set of Michelins. They scratched the paint on three out of the four wheels. Didn't mention it, notice it or anything. Fortunately, I noticed it before I had even left the parking lot and had them document it.

To Costco's defense, they did investigate and pay to have my wheels refinished and for a rental. But I was glad I had it well documented. Since then, I've had other tires mounted at Costco (different store) and have always explained that I've had problems in the past. I insist on having the manager inspect the wheels before and after the work is done.

I haven't had the 'Vette there for tires.

So costco tire is good? You would trust them to work on your corvette?

They got a deal going on now https://slickdeals.net/f/12539710-co...12-25-only?v=1

That is a fantastic deal. I have had Costco install two sets of tires on my '13 Grand Sport - the last time being a week or so ago. Both times the install was done by the tire dept. manager - a combined 25 years of shop experience. Professional job with new equipment and I was totally satisfied.

Same experience here at Costco in the Atlanta area, the manager either does it himself or over sees the job and I almost even used a magnifying glass, not a single mark anywhere, fantastic job! They have all my business on 5 different cars!

It's not the name on the building, it all has to do with the competence and attitude of the installer along with the person who manages the crew. I've purchased tires for several years now at the same Discount Tire store in Scottsdale, which happens to be right next door to DTs Corporate Headquarters. They have been efficient, fast and perfect. Probably has something to do with the DT VPs regularly popping in at the store, at will, and it is their model store. I could recommend DT in your city/town, but your results might vary.

They just did two complete sets of wheels and tires for my Bentley. One chrome set, one black set with two sets of Pirelli Rossos.

If you're interested in the Scottsdale store, it is Scottsdale road and just past Thompson Peak Pkwy. in Grayhawk. This store, besides being right in the parking lot of corporate, catches most of the high end/exotic cars in N SD. They know how to take care of you if you have a nice car.

I really don't get it. Why are there so many threads about having work done on your car a great accomplishment when it comes out correct. So basically when you bring your car to be fixed your expecting it to come back worse than when you bought it in. I could never bring my car anywhere to be fixed and be pleasantly surprised when it actually is.

My Costco in Pewaukee, WI replaced my Michelins with new Michelin PS run flat tires as well, but with the $70 rebate, free install, I was out the door for $1,050. Not sure why yours was so much more?

Ah, yours were for a GS. I'm driving a standard Coupe. That would explain the difference.

Because of this post, I'm joining Costco. The closest one is 75 miles from my house...but I'll take the ride. That manager is SPECIAL! Wish he and COSTCO knew how his karma affects the well being of the store throughout the country! Thank you!
