Auto-down window feature.
I hope it is discontinued on the C6. I'm tired of fighting with the auto-down window button. I'll decide if I want the window all the way down, by pressing on the button longer. If I don't have the two seconds to hold it, then I should be focused on something else and not the window. :boxing

Auto-down is fine if you spend a little money on the switches. There needs to be a positive final click to kick in the auto-down, not a timing thing. Auto-up would be nice too.

I'd like to see auto down and auto up on both windows. I agree about the switches. You need two detents that are easy to distinguish. This makes it much easier to control. Auto up seems pointless, untill you get used to it. It's nice to be able to put the window up with one touch when driving away from toll booths or other such things, so you can have one hand on the wheel and the other on the shifter.

Re: Auto-down window feature. (Rich2002)
I hope they continue it and include an auto-up feature.
The problem I have with the current implementation of it in the C5 is it's counter to all other cars I've driven that have had this feature. These cars it's a "tap" for the controlled down and a press for the auto-down. On the C5 it's a tap for the auto-down and a press controlled down.
I thougt mine was faulty until I figuered this out (ok I admit it, my 12 year old daughter had to show me :) )

Re: Auto-down window feature. (Rich2002)
As a new owner, I too was confused about the auto-down feature until I read about its operation in the owner's manual. I too like the idea of switch detent where 1/2 press is for manual and a full press is for auto-down.
For the C6, keep the auto-down feature, improve the switch. :yesnod:
As for auto-up, I have never seen this on a vehicle. I think that it would be handy, but there is the potential for the window closing on something unintensionally (come to think of it I did break the visor mirror in my Expedition by rolling the window up and crushing it into a thousand pieces :bb ).

Auto up will never appear in any car. you know some moron out there will have his head out the window and hit the auto up and you take it from there....
they would have to implement some sort of touch system like in gargage doors.

With the Window Valet you get auto up with the remote. It also reverses if an object is encountered while going up. :yesnod:

Jurzdevil,
Auto up is present on Lexus vehicles. There is a sensor that detects resistence and stops the window immediately (I tested it on my friends RX300- It stopped so soon I could get my hand out w/o dropping the window). He has had trouble with ice on the glass occasionaly triggering the stop- but well worth it.
GM if your listening (and we know you are!) AUTO UP AND DOWN! :smash:  Just invest the few extra pennies into better quality hardware- the rubber garbage on my C5 doorpanel has to go.
