Again, the C6 has an AM antenna and booster that works very well.

The glitch, the car sits lower, and does not have a mast type antenna with booster higher up in the air, and why is done not pick up the signal as well as say a truck such instead. So if push came to shove since there is room in the back, you could add a loop type antenna to the antenna booster if you really want to pick up the signal more.

My guess though, the problem is the antenna is not getting power, and the problem at hand isntead.

I will throw out a half baked idea. I am not sure if the 2009 had the aux input? My 2008 does not. I have a friend that does the talk radio daily. He has tested many different portable radios and finds one with exceptional reception once in a while. Maybe the cheap fix is an am tuner hooked into an aux jack? Some of those 9V transistor radios have good AM reception. This idea would not require any surgery if the 2009 has an aux input. You could also feed the tuner into a personal fm transmitter to get it to play in the car if the aux jack did not come along until later in C6.

You could also try making the antennas longer. If I recall, the am antenna just wraps to one side of the car towards the driver side. An extension wire could be added and wrapped around to the passenger side, more than doubling its length. You could think of this type of an antenna is like a "voltage probe" where longer is better.

This thread is a couple of years old, but I recently improved the AM radio reception drastically in my 2013 427 convertible as seen in this thread I put in the General Corvette Topics - Audio/Electronics forum. Here is the link:
