Bonecrrushers 2005 C6 Build Thread
Hello everyone!
I have been here on Corvetteforum for a very long time - asking a ton of questions and doing research for my C6.
I never started a build thread - but that changes today!
I have had my 2005 C6 for 10 years now - and it has been a crazy journey.
I picked up my Corvette at Steve Rayman Chevrolet outside of Atlanta Georgia - it was the only Lemans Blue C6 with a T56 and Heads up Display in the area.
Here are a few pics when I got it:
The car didn't stay stock very long - I picked up a set of ZR1 replica wheels, and added a set of C6Z brakes on the car.
I dyno'd my car after some basic bolt ons - Vararam intake, C6Z manifolds and Z06 mufflers - the car made 375 rwhp/rwtq.
That was the beginning of my crazy journey/build of the car.

The car has been on 9 Hot Rod Power Tours - and I Long Hauled all of them - so every summer the car got a lot of miles put on it.
I have autocrossed, drag raced, and driven the car on a few road courses - its been a blast and never let me down.
After a few years - I started picking up some wide body kit pieces for the car - C6Z rear fenders, front fenders, and a set of Competition Grey Z06 wheels.

I started with the rear end first - and eventually got the front end painted
I also started on the interior mods - I added a 2006+ steering wheel - and added the steering wheel controls harness - and got those working.
I also added a 2009 Navigation radio that I had picked up - and I also upgraded the seats to the 2011+ Seat covers.

For my winter build in 2013 - I started on the motor/suspension build.
For the motor:
CNC ported LS3 heads
LS9 Cam
Kooks Long Tube Headers
After I got the car back together - I had PCM of NC tune the car - and it made 450 rwhp and 409 rwtq.
I then started on the suspension - I had been gathering parts for awhile - and I picked up some Pfadt Racing Coilovers, and the Pfadt Heavy Duty Swaybars.
Here was the first fire up:

Heres is the chassis dyno video from PCM:
I had also picked up a MaxJax lift - and had installed it in my garage - it made the engine/suspension upgrades a whole lot easier.

Awesome going through the transformation process myself a long time ago, I can appreciate all the work that goes in to it.
It is definitely a passion.

Thanks everyone!
I am pulling my pics and videos from some other threads - so trying to put everything into one spot is going to take a few days.

Upgrading the performance, appearance, and handling has been a very long term project on this car.
So I have broken it down into a different phases.
Phase 1 included the Z06 brakes, Pfadt Swaybars and Coilovers, and the heads/cam/intake/headers.
I forgot to mention that during this phase - with the LS3 heads - I had to upgrade to the LS3 intake at the same time.
At the end of phase 1 - I was at 450 RWP.
At the start of Phase II - I installed a new catback from Corsa.
I had the Mild 2 Wild kit on the Z06 mufflers - but I was never happy with that setup - and it droned like hell.
So I decided to get rid of the Z06 axle back setup - and installed a Corsa Xtreme Z06 muffler kit.
Here is how it sounds:

Continuing Phase II:
With the exhaust changed out - it was time to start the front end project.
Now I had been picking Z06 pieces here and there for a few years - and I finally got enough pieces to take it to the body shop - get it assembled and get everything painted.
I had my body man paint the front bumper, fenders, and install the ZR1 splitter.
I installed the side skirts when I got the car back.

One of the favorite shots of my car - this is at the Michelin Proving Grounds in Laurens, SC.
I was able to drive on their autocross pad with the local SCCA club.
Here is one of my runs from the day:

I had been under the car doing an oil change - and I noticed a lot of oil around the oil pan.
So I ordered a new oil pan gasket - dropped the pan - and swapped the gasket.
This is was the second time I had dropped the pan.
The first was when I did the engine upgrades in Phase 1 - when I was removing the LS2 cam - I accidently hit 2 of the lifters and they dropped into the motor.
I heard them pinball into the bottom end - luckily I was able to fish them out by dropping the pan that time.
I guess the pan didnt seal up well from the first time I dropped it - dropping it this second time it sealed up a lot better and didn't leak all over the engine.

Continuing on with the Phase II build - I decided that I didn't like my 2006 steering wheel with the steering wheel controls. When the 2012 steering wheel came out with the thumb grips - I picked up one and swapped it in:
Also in the mean time I sold my house, and put my Corvette in storage for 6 months while we where building our new house.
We custom built out house with a 3 car garage - and after we moved in I setup the lift in the third bay:
To continue the build - I started with the fuel system so after I got the lift installed I dropped the fuel tank to install a Z06 fuel pump.
Here is my overview of the fuel pump install:
