Default Son inlaw giving me hell.

My son in law is giving me hell since he and my daughter bought a 2015 Audi A5. Well he started out saying the he'll blow the doors of my 92 C4's (stock). I can maybe see out running of the C4's because of the technology advances. But then stepped it up a notch and said "And I'll out run that 2005 C6 you have too". (stock Z51 6-speed).
I tried googling the A5 and really came up with not much at all on it and I'm not familiar with it them at all. What's everyone's opinion on this? Are they all that quick???
Thanks for everyone take on this.....

Depends on which motor is in it. And all that will determine is how badly you will beat him. I'm guessing he's never driven or had a ride in a C6

Are you sure they didn't mean S5 or RS5? Seems like a lot of **** talking for a regular A5.

2015 A5: Turbocharged 2.0 I4 220hp 258tq 6m or 8a, with 0-60 times in the 6s and 1/4 mile times in the low 15s high 14s.

Now if they're talking about the S5 then that's at least something. You "should" still be able to take it but it's close enough where a bad launch or missed shift will cost you the race. But you still may have enough to catch up.

If it's and RS5 then you'll probably lose but not by much. It's really just the awd and dual clutch trans that will be hard to beat. But if you're an exceptional driver, you can win.

If it really is just a regular plain old A5, then they're either just having fun with you or they're delusional.

This is all referring to your C6.

A5? Why did he buy an A5, if he wanted performance? Ask him why he bought a hairdressers car and not an RS5. Tell him when he can afford an RS5, you'll show him a little respect, but an A5, pfft stop wasting your time.

Btw, I recently test drove a new Audi S4 - very quick, but geez how can you make something that quick, so ridiculously boring to drive. I hated it! And I love German cars.

Isn't an A5 the same thing as the VW CC or is it the Arteon? Either way, 6+ seconds to 60. I'd laugh in his face

If he has all wheel drive, he may pull you out of the hole a little bit but you'l catch him pretty quickly.

That's nothing. I had a coworker tell me he could outrun my C6 in his Ford C Max with front wheel drive hybrid. I didn't even answer. His car went 0-60 in 7 or 8 seconds.

Not my current car; it was my 2006 convertible.

The only Audi I would be worried about is the R8....and possibly the RS7.

Tune up the Corvette and line 'em up. Of course there must be a side bet.

Don't even talk about the track, that Audi is nose heavy and understeers with the worst of them.

Really all this is, is envy. It gets so tiresome.

LOL....Audi's are nice rides, but their quality isn't really any better than some of the other imports. You can contribute a lot of Audi's popularity to the Iron Man movies. Just like back in the day of the Miami Vice show when the boat company Wellcraft's sales took off since thats what they used in that show.....

I'm curious, what type of car did your daughter/son in-law have before the Audi?

Just give him hell back.

Ask how's he likes his 4 door sedan.
Ask if he is enjoying his back seat cup holders.
Say yes my friend's daughter likes hers.
I think those are a good jabs.

Race him and use your tricks...set tire pressure, stick'em, sway bar and shock...or just race. The Audi may loose off the line with a traction loss. Z51 '06, maybe if all stock, equals 110 mph in the quarter? The Audi, who cares. Yet some of those big German sedan have 600 horsepower engines and really do accelerate strongly.

Have fun...again give him hell right back.

Your son in law is an idiot. Your daughter should have done a better job picking a man.

His A5 likely wouldn't run long enough to outrun a C4, and certainly won't beat a C6.

Your profile says you are in the East Texas sticks. I am also. I will bring my Z and see if he wants to race.

Probably a Prius , that's why the Audi seems so fast to him...

I'll lend you my 89 C4 Corvette ( it's not stock) , it keeps up with my C6 in the quarter mile.. Wouldn't he be surprised......WW

Check out my C4...

Why do people always say this? Good marketing I suppose. Yeah, AWD is great in low traction situations. But on a clear, dry day, all it adds is weight. Unless it's making mega power and is setup to put down that power through AWD, it's never going to out launch a corvette. You think that automatic jetta is going to AWD launch on him??
NULL already pointed us to a 0-60 site. Premium plus is 6.1, which is respectable. But NOT Corvette beating.. Maybe just don't race him in the snow with the C4.
