Default Exhaust venting from garage

I sometimes run the car in the off season and looking for better ways to vent exhaust to the outside. Originally used 2 shop vac hoses directly to the outlets but they got too hot so added some ABS sections in front to take the heat. A 2" ABS coupling fits nice and tight in the outlet. Works pretty good but looking for a better way to do it, at least better hoses.

Why are you even starting the car?

Slap a tender on it and call it a winter!

Need for working on the car, not just keeping the battery charged

Get a cheap garage heater (I did for my garage - about $400 with installation) and crack the garage door when you need to run it. Safety first!

Personally, no matter what kind of set up, I would not run the cars without the garage doors open, CO is a silent killer.

Lost a friend like that. Back in the day, he did the same. Chicago in January (much worse when really cold). Thought he was vented WELL...he wasn't. Passed out on a creeper under the car. Never recovered, and was found the next day with the car still running....not very smart!

Just stick the *** end of the car out of the garage, simple. Even if their is snow you just have to move about a foot across the front of the garage and your back tires stay inside the garage. I use to start my cars throughout the winter every 2 weeks and let them idle for about 45 minutes but now I just let them sleep.

Yep.... That's pretty dumb....

The problem could be easily solved if the OP were to add a squirrel cage blower to the hoses then would have a vacuum / pressurized venting setup.

Take a visit to any fire department station. All their equipment has quick couple exhaust hoses leading to a large fan near the roof and expelled out via duct work. When they roll out, the quick couple disconnects automatically, along with the ground power cord.

Renaming OP as "Mr. Suicide".

Yeah, that setup is really cool. I didn't know they had it until my grandson had his birthday party at a fire station in Marietta. Imagine learning something new at my age. I think I enjoyed the tour of the station more than he did ... I'd never been to one before.

They also have a QD battery tender.

Gosh, I thought the OP's system was designed nicely.
Just needs piping for all four tips for safety.

But CO2 can be deadly or induce sleep first so I would take further steps.
In my area, I believe new building codes mandate garage exhaust fans built into the structure.
Then even with this, if running the car in the garage, I'd open the doors slights and have a "Big ***" (tm) fan fully circulating air.

Or park the car so the exhaust exits the garage doors.

Still, I liked the OP's design.

Looked around a bit more and I'm just going to replace the shop vac hoses with heavy duty 2" PVC hose used on swimming pools and spas. Oddly enough the C02 detector goes off if I have the car running with both garage doors wide open but doesn't go off with the current setup. Just looking for something a little more reliable than the shop vac hoses.

Additional benefit is starting the car up and letting it get to idle temps while freezing outside brings the garage temps up to 70+ during the winter....

That would be nice because it's usually 4" diameter and can get the metallic stuff that won't melt, also flows better....just have to reduce it down from 2" and send 2 4" outlets under the garage door.
