im really considering driving my car in the winter
im not sure about u guys but i hate the fact that i gotta store the car for months lol, life is to short. i have a 2009 z51 suspension. I wouldn't be driving it in the snow but on nicer days il give it a good drive. thoughts?

I drive mine all year but only on dry, clean roads in the winter.

In WI we can/do get serious snow/ice.
IF temps are below freezing I've driven my Z06 in Jan-Feb, providing everything's clear & dry.
Corvettes & most every other 'sports car' gets stored, here.
Driving a HP vehicle on snowy/icy surfaces is a virtual death wish.
I've a 4WD Trailblazer for HD times, Z's covered & on a tender.

I'll drive my cars all winter, except for that one day or two when we get a dusting of snow.
That's one of the reasons I live in TN.

If the roads don't have snow or ice on them I drive the Vette.
Exceptions are aforementioned weather or a situation where the Suburban is more appropriate.

Why wouldn't you drive it in the winter? I'm not talking 2 feet of snow but what's the issue of driving in cold weather? I drove my last car which was much more on edge than this one all year with zero problems. I mean you have to take into account cold tires and much less grip but I don't see it as a problem at all.

I pull mine out on nice days in the winter. By no means do I drive it every day.

I might take mine around for a short drive in cooler weather, but won't drive it if it's below freezing. Honestly, and at the risk of being a little pessimistic, the cars just to darn rough riding and cheaply made to risk bouncing around while frozen..........

Depends on the kind of winter. I have even taken my motorcycle out during some winters. Others, no way.
If we have a ton of snow and ice and the roads are full of potholes, rocks and deicer, they stay in the garage until all that is cleaned up.

Is there any truth to damaging summer tires by driving in freezing cold? I am not certain, but my new PSS tires cost too much for me to experiment with. Just something to consider if you don't have all season tires on it.

While it depends on the tire, some compounds run a risk of cracking as temps get below 40F. Colder it gets, the worse it is for summer -only compounds.

Go ahead. The more you guys drive them year round, the more mine will hold its value with lower miles. Mine doesn't see temps colder than 55 nor does it see rain or snow.

Winter...Shminter!!!
Corvette owners are not pussycats....these cars are not made of cheese....I DD all year and I am in the northeast. Do not drive if there is ice or snow.....that is IDIOCY! But otherwise...no problems...we had very little snowfall last year....I have owned 7 different vettes in the last 10 years. Just don't take your turns as fast as you do in warmer months.
