Default Insurance prices?

I'm curious what others, particularly in Florida, are paying for insurance on their C6's? I am planning to pick up a C6 in the spring and was very surprised to be quoted $2,000/year to add a C6 to my policy (100k/300k coverage $500 deductible). I used a 2010 Grand Sport as an example for quoting.

I'm 39/m/Tampa Fl suburbs/clean record, this would be a 2nd vehicle listed as pleasure use 5k or less miles a year. Seems incredibly high considering it's not my primary vehicle, I expected about half. Is this a normal rate???

I'm 29/M/Tampa FL area as well (Clearwater to be exact). I pay $564/6 months for my 08 Z06, but my coverages are quite a bit lower than yours (25k/50k/50k). I am currently renting so I don't feel the need to go with something as high as your coverage. This is my primary vehicle and I do not have any others yet.

Who is your insurance provider? I am using Progressive. I shopped around quite a bit and most other providers were substantially more expensive.

Frankie, thanks for the reply. My provider is State Farm. I have not shopped around much yet, but I did try Esurance and they were comparable. I'm just shocked it's so high as a 2nd vehicle, my DD (2016 Acura RDX) with similar coverage is actually LESS all by itself than the add-on policy is for the 'Vette. I realize the repair cost is much higher for a 'Vette, but it was the liability that was the largest chuck of the policy, and this included the multi-vehicle discount. I said to the agent, "Why so high? I can only crash one vehicle at a time, unless I have an accident in my driveway". She got a chuckle out of that, but it didn't lower my quote.

Wow those seem awfully high...I'm in California in the bay area so perhaps it's a bit different but I'm 24/M and pay 620/6 months for my 06 Z06 with 100k/300k and $500 deductible as the main car 10k miles per year. I'd shop around as 1k/6 months seems pretty high

I am in N E Florida and have had State Farm for decades. This year I switched to Liberty Mutal and save about 50%. I am now paying about $1500 a year 2013 GS Vert I am older but do not have a great driving record. No claims so I have no idea how their service will be.

Hope this helps

Pete I am in Jacksonville and we are in about the same boat. Recently I went insurance shopping (I have Nationwide) and a State Farm agent told me that Duval (Jax), Miami-Dade, and the Tampa counties (Hillsborough I believe) historically had the highest insurance rates in the state. She told me that if I live 10 miles north in Nassau county, where I work, my insurance rate would be about half of what it is now. Evidently these 3 counties have the worst accident records, and I can attest to that watching the crazies and the Moms on their cell phones traversing the I-95/I-10 corridor here on a daily basis. We both need a new zip code.

My insurance is with Southern Farm Bureau, have wife's Tahoe (05), My dodge truck (04) and Vette (08). I carry very high limits and $500 deductible and for all 3 it is about $2400 year and that may be a tad bit high

Our daughter just got married so she and her car dropped off of ours but based on the refund I got that should be about right .

I'm in NYS, 67 years old, clean record, have decent coverage, the '07 C6 and '17 Tacoma cost me around $83 per month ($996/year) with Travelers.

32/m/Geico with maxed out coverage and I'm paying $1,150/6 months for a 2013 z06. Granted I have a motorcycle and a civic as well. Plus I've been with them for 8 years. So far I've maintained a good driving record....so far.

The price you pay for insurance is determined by several factors. Age, zip code, credit score, driving record, liability coverages,deductibles...you get the picture.
I live in the Tampa-Clearwater-Bradenton area. 63 years old, good driving record, good credit score. My 2013 Vette cost me $810/year. $250,000/$500,000, $500 deductibles.
Mrs. ND's 2016 Highlander (same coverages & deductibles) costs $830.50/year. Insured with Safeco. (A Liberty Mutual Company)

I'm 30 and in the Tampa area. I'm paying $2k/yr for both my 2011 base as well as my wife's 2007 Cadillac SRX but with 25/50/50 coverage options and $500 deductible (GEICO).

Thank's all for the replies! I talked to my SF agent again this morning, and it seems that Pasco is actually higher than the Clearwater area, they say it's because of the amount of accidents on the highways. I don't think I believe that. For every car that has an accident on 75, there has got to be 100,000 cars that don't have one. It looks like I need to do a bit of shopping around. I've had them check and double check and that's their number. It's actually about $700 a year HIGHER as a secondary vehicle than my primary vehicle with similar coverage and a similar replacement value. Thankfully, I have about 6 months to figure this mess out, but it's nice to start budgeting now.

Pete, why wait 6 months? I would shop.....find a better rate....and move that car elsewhere. Let us know how we can help.

I'm 63, haven't had a ticket in 10 years (and that was a mistake) and I pay 487.00 per year with a $1000 deductible through American Family. I also have my house insurance with them.
