C6 GS Still a looker . . .
I was invited to attend a private crab feast (like a cookout with seafood) today at a marina along a river near the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. About 200 people all eating and drinking on a beautiful afternoon . . . with a bunch of pretty expensive boats a hundred yards away.
In the parking lot there were many luxury and premium cars, even including a Bentley SUV. But in that parking lot there was only one Corvette, my all stock 2013 silver C6 GS with chrome wheels.
Shortly after I sat down to eat, my friend asked me if I drove the Vette, to which of course I answered yes. He then asked me if he could show his son (13 y.o.) Of course I said yes and gave him my fob.
From that point it was on. Honestly at least 20 parents and kids all drifted over to check out the car, many taking pictures with it or while sitting in the drivers seat. I even had to walk over and open the hood at one point. It was actually a bit ridiculous, especially given all the BMWs, Mercedes, Audis and that crazy Bentley in the same parking lot.
My only thought as I drove home was that some C7 owners may now find the C6 design a bit dated, but based on my experience today there are still plenty of people who find the C6 quite beautiful, who recognize it as a Corvette immediately, and who apparently like everything a Corvette represents.
A good day to own a C6 for sure . . . not to mention the delicious steamed crabs.

Sounds like a very good and fun day all they way around. You didn't miss out on any crab while giving tours did you?

That's a cool story. Glad to see that there are many that appreciate the C6 still. I on the other hand feel like I get the opposite reaction much of the time where my car draws no attention. I did notice one kid give my car a double take once, but his mother seemed to pull his arm and lean down and tell him not to look. Maybe I scare people.

Sorry, but that made chuckle. First thing that went through my twisted mind (dating myself) was a line from the old movie The Elephant Man, " I'm not an animal, I'm a human being!"

Hahaha, wait a minute.... I just asked my wife, she said not the best looking but definitely not elephant man. I'm not sure what that is suppose to mean. All kidding aside, glad to see the OP's car getting some luv. It's always fun when people show an interest in your hobbies.

Corvettes are the great American dream car!

Still a great looking car. Growing up with C4s and C5s, the C6 widebody cars still look futuristic to me. All angular and aggressive. I think it will be this way for the foreseeable future

Without a doubt, the C6 GS is the best looking Corvette ever.

Base models get the same love. I constantly have people taking pictures, and even videos, of my car both in parking lots and when I'm out and about. Most people don't know there is even a difference.

I frequently receive compliments on mine. In the past months, two strangers have said, "That's the prettiest car I've ever seen." I actually think part of it is how arresting the inferno orange metallic looks in person. I love the curves and lines of the C6, to my mind and heart the prettiest design of all Corvettes (I like the C3's but they're more muscular than the leaner, more sinewy C6). I have no doubt that the C7 is a better car, and I may get one at some point, but I'm not as moved by its more angular design.

I think the GS 'verts and 427 'verts are especially attractive. I love my C6Z, but might be heading to one of those two next.
The C7 hasn't really grown on me.

The GS C6 is a gorgeous car. My "regular" C6 gets plenty of attention too. It kind of surprises me but it is always nice to get some compliments on it. It sounds like you had a great day!

I live in a pretty rural area and get more comments on my WRX than the Corvette. I think some folks get put off by the Vette.
I did get a guy in a Jag convertible get all excited at a gas station a couple weeks ago. He was kind of embarrassing me the way he was making a fuss and raving about what a cool car it is. The woman that was with him couldn't have been more disinterested though.

My internet server tech was here a couple of days ago looking at the Com. center box in my garage, he stopped and looked at the GS for awhile, said "NICE CAR", then stood back looking at the wheels for a minute and says I love the wheels

My black Z06 gets a fair amount of attention, which surprised me. Then again, I live in Seattle, and it seems everyone here would rather have a M4 or Jag or GTR over a Corvette, which makes the C6 Z06 somewhat rare.
