Took a mold of a std windshield, then cut down the centre and added 7.5” to suit windscreen frame.
Proceeded to then make a “buck”, and then had to find a manufacturer. When I started the project we still had 2 manufacturers here, but by the time I was ready, they’d all closed up shop. It appears we can’t seem to make anything cost effectively here in Australia now.
Ended up getting made in China, had to buy 10, and ended up costing about $600(Aus) per screen.

C36 build update
Hi Guys,
Real long winded thread this one
Number 2 is nearly finished this mammoth build.
My friend Arthur Hasse has proved he is no quitter. He has done a fantastic job.
So, we have 2 of the original 5 car builds finished (or nearly), 2 more are a couple of years off, and unfortunately number 5 won’t make it.
Here are the pics, hope you enjoy them

Haven’t weighed any of them yet, needs to happen soon for registration purposes, but I expect them to weigh very similar to the donor Z06..a

looking at them in isolation, they sure look like a C3, but put it next to an original one, barely a square inch of the body dimensions are the same.

Yes DrKrieger, need to be RHD in order to register for the road down here in Australia. It’s a process that costs Aus$49.5k to do, and it’s pretty involved, with serious engineering challenges.

Excepting the rear Z06 brake scoop (which I never liked even on real Z06s), that is massively cool! Even the windshield trim looks good! Congratulations on a great project. Hope the owners are really enjoying them and I look forward to (the unlikely) opportunity of seeing one on the road on my next trip down under.

Some more pics of car number 1
Highly modded version of C6 interior, converted to RHD. Features all C6 dash and controls. Door trims are a blend of C6 with mods to suit C3 doors.
Rear is widened 9.5”. Original C3 tail lights that we were going to use, looked like peep holes in the snow, so installed C6 units. Lower rear valance is a modded version of the C6. Exhaust, all custom. Modded std C3 bumpers.
LS7 motor has only done 9k miles, and will remain bone stock with cold air intake, and a tune. Billet custom top plate, plus visual changes made to make it look a little old school. Using C6 wiper motor with modded C3 wiper assembly. We used this wiper motor so it can talk to the BCM. All wiring, electronics and controls are from donor car
Custom C6 waterfall, and retrimmed standard seats in quality leather. All console standard C6 with some components modded to suit conversion to RHD.
Custom made one tilt front with dual 400n rams, and Volvo hood hinges. Tried to keep it all Corvette parts, but sometimes we need to stray from the righteous path. Works great with original C6 hood latches.
Gear lever moved to right side of console. C3 demister vent. All gauges and controls from 2008 C6 Z06 donor car. A RHD dash we sourced was heavily modded to suit C3 widened windscreen.
Bullets are a custom touch, and we now have a cavernous trunk. Turned out excellent, and looks “factory” with local commodore trunk hinges.
“C36” emblem added to retrimmed leather seats. Original C6 steering wheel retrimmed to suit
First glance looks like a std C3, but barely a square inch of the body is original. Original modded front bumper is used, along with modded original headlights with a custom electric conversion. C6 door mirrors from donor car.
The four side vents were used but configuration was altered to suit the custom gill panel. Has later wheel flares introduced in 1970. Side indicator lamp is to comply with local regs. Note big C6 Z06 brakes, plus 60th anniversary wheels with a carbon fibre finish with Michelin tyres.
Original big block hood was widened to be in proportion with wider front. It was also made taller, so it looked right. One piece tilt front is enormous, and opens beautifully. Hood is 7.5” wider at the windscreen, and only 2” wider at the very tip of the front, but it gets fatter, pretty quick. Didn’t plan it that way, but the car talked to us during the build, and this is how it eventuated.

Hope you see the car on the road next time you visit Australia (have to be South Australia) because that will mean I am out driving car. It is nearly finished, then has to be passed by engineers and motor registration department. The brake scoop was put in because we thought that section of the body looked bare as there is usually a wheel in that position on the C3s. It will be functionable.
