I assume you, the OP, are asking about trunk struts. It would be nice to know whether "trunk" is the appropriate word or if "hatch" is more correct.

I meant the springs to help open the trunk hatch, note HATCH!

Springs for the hatch????

Never seen springs in the hatch. Hydraulic struts can be bought at auto parts store.

Does the C6 have the hatch assist springs like the C5 does that help to pop the hatch up when first opened?

PN/10380000 Lift Cylinder @ your local GM dealer for about $32 or online for around $20.

OP needs to clarify.

Home Depot...maybe the OP is trying to create a hatch/ truck lid assist spring.

Internet net search reveals pre-made ones for $10 to $20 dollars.

In this case, seems best the OP buys pre-made.

If he means gas struts....Home Depot? No.

Pull your old springs out, take them to Home Depot and match them up. That's what I'd do if I had a hatch, but I have a trunk because I have a convertible.

If you have springs on your trunk, they were added, they are not stock. My trunk never opened enough when I popped it. Even new, I had to use a finger nail. I finally replaced the stock GM struts with
Stongarm brand and it made a huge difference. The trunk now pops about an inch when opened.

I knew if we bugged you enough you'd give us the right info. I think (?) I have seen a booster spring in an accessory catalogue (kinda like an upscale JC Whitney) that fits around the trunk latch.
As Rich says, the struts are supposed to pop the lid...but they wear out. GM part is 154843995.

In fact, here ya go:

Part# : 611408 $19.99

Send me a thank you note written on the back of a twenty dollar bill...

They also sell a spring assist to open it up further than just the struts. I never used this but they do make it. I replaced my struts and it does open slightly more than the original ones. To me the design needs improvement.

You might try a couple shots of WD40 into the latch assembly and in each "elbow" hinge points. I lubricate the latch and hinges twice a year and have never needed an assist spring.

WD40 is not a lubricant. It dries sticky, and will cause more problems. Better lubricant to use would be a graphite or silicone spray.
