Just Bought a 2011 Grand Sport A6 3LT Vert
I've loved my '05 M6 Coupe a lot. Beautiful, fast, fun to drive, a great value, trouble free - what's not to love? But as nice as it's been, I've been lusting after a convertible this last year after driving a C7 vert last summer. Didn't care much for the C7, but loved the drop top.
Because of a few recent traffic jams I've been in, I told myself I'd get an auto if I ever got another vette. Spending hours feathering the clutch in 1st and 2nd gets old fast.
So I started looking around this spring and found the perfect car for me at Corvettes North in Waterville Maine. A drop-dead-gorgeous '11 Grand Sport 3LT vert with A6, NAV, mag ride, NPP and just about every other option offered, with only 15K miles.
I have to admit until yesterday, I never understood the fascination with the wide body C6. Seen hundreds of pics but I just didn't get it.
Now I understand. The body style is awesome. Pics have no depth, so you never get the sense of the size of the rear wheels and the huge fender flares. The Grand Sports are aggressive, mean looking and gorgeous.
I got a great deal from Corvettes North, and the best treatment I've ever gotten from a dealership. In my 40+ years of buying cars, this Grand Sport was the best buying experience I've ever had thanks to David and Chad. Anyone looking for a Vette ought to check them out: http://www.corvettesnorth.com/

nothing compares to the wide-body convertible for style.

Coming home from a trip to PA and MD last summer, we got caught in a jam up on I-84 North in CT on a Sunday afternoon. It started at Waterbury and it took us 4 and a half hours to travel the 45 minutes to Hartford. 4 1/2 hours stopped or in 1st or 2nd gear. Never again.

I was literally stunned when I saw this one up close. Nothing like the pictures at all. Or rather the pictures don't really capture the beauty of the cars.
I put a few hundred miles on it today, some of it pretty sporting, and I am equally impressed by how much more car it is than my '05 coupe. Not to denigrate non Grand Sports C6's, but in my mind there is no comparison in handling, performance and braking to a base coupe. The cars are not in the same category. I felt way more planted on hard curves, the brakes felt far more powerful.
So basically, I feel like I've broken through to another level of Corvetteness (?) I didn't even know existed until a few days ago.
Life is good!
I cleaned up the road dirt and posted a few more pics in the original post.

Beautiful car! Congrats! I understand the automatic issue completely. I used to be a firm believer that all Corvettes should have three pedals. That is until I was stuck in stop and go traffic every week. Now automatics are fine. Enjoy!

That GS is a beauty! Best of luck with it.
I really love the wide body too and really appreciate the big tires and brakes on the windy technical back roads. I would have got a Z06, but the convertible was a must have. I can add more horsepower to the LS3, but you can't chop the top on a Z.
