I bought a very nice compressor and flat repair kit from Griot's Garage, fits well in one of the rear cubbies. Around $82-83.

Haven't had any luck with any small compressor as far as lasting very long. They all spin so darn fast thats its just hard to make them last with todays cheap A#$ materials that they use. I just figure on buying a new one every now and then is just the way its gonna be.

I bought the harbor freight one and it would get so hot that it would continually blow the cigarette lighter fuse.
Got this one from Amazon, it hooks to the jumper post under the hood. Inflates faster than the harbor freight one and doesn't get nearly hot. I bought it in Sept 2015 and have used it almost every weekend since.

Got a Viair model 70 from AutoAnything. Impressed. Engine must be running to power it up properly. Plugs into cigarette lighter or power port in console.

After trips to Africa, where flats are a regular part of driving around with acacia thorns, I learned of the Viair series of portable compressors. All of our vehicles have one. Even with big tires, these things work well. I have model 70P in the C6 and my wife's Mazda3 and the larger 85P in our F150. Both models have worked well for us. Consider a hose extension, just to make sure you can reach all wheels. Be mindful of the amperage pull of any device you consider since some of these can have a higher draw than the accessory socket is designed to provide. For that reason, I went with a model that could work off the battery for my truck. I got mine on Amazon.

Very important that it's capable of say 120psi. One of mine actually goes up to 300psi, never checked that. I always run the car when using something like this, compressors can run down the battery very quickly, especially if it's not at full charge already. Have a plug kit, might help with a small nail hole. When the compressor starts getting really hot turn it off of a few minutes. AAA is the backup, if needed. JMO Check with a gauge after not just the compressor.

I have the one from harbor freight as well. It's the bigger model though where you connect it to the battery and not the 12v outlet in the car. Haven't had a problem with it so far, but I mainly use it for airing up quad tires at the dunes.
For home I use a pancake compressor and it suits my needs fine. I don't think I'll carry one int he Vette. No room and if I get a flat I'll use my roadside service.

My Harbor Freight air compressor does not do this ,it runs cool even after I air up all four tires after a day at the track
I think sometimes depending on the cigarette lighter end that a lot of resistance builds up which causes the heat

I bought this same kit from Griots. It is a bit more expensive but I haven't had any issues with it getting hot filling the tires in either of the vettes. It did blow the accessory fuse in the Sonata.

Another vote for Viair. Ive burned up several of those cheap harbor freight compressors airing up 35" tires on the jeep after wheeling. Ive had the viair for several years and its always performed well.
