Is this recall only for the 2013 model year?

No, it's not just for 2013s. I know it covers 2009s (my model year) and it may be all C6 years.

Basically, the low beam headlights have been known to suddenly go out. The recall installs a jumper in the under hood fuse box that's supposed to prevent the issue.

Old news, been discussed many times. I just had my 10 GS in for service and they did that recall. I had never had any problem with it though.

It's for "all years" BUT they claim only for 10 years, so the earlier years are SOL.

It is actually a problem in the fuse block (engine bay) and it could effect more then just the low beams.

I had mine done with no problems in 2014. There were no symptoms of a bad connection but had it done anyways. It is less then an hour job from battery disconnect to battery re-connect.

edit: The letter above says 2008-2013 but that is a "customer satisfaction" , basically install the jumper wire incase it breaks in the future. There was a different letter for earlier cars.

I think they have to cover all years. It is a "safety" recall which should never expire.

Who claims only 10 years? My 2007 is 10 years old and I still keep getting the mail every few months saying I should have it done and there is nothing that lists any time limit because it is a safety recall.

I believe more people have reported issues with dealers screwing up the fix than people who have actually seen the issue. Also it is a minor issue if it does occur. The low beam lights can go out but all the other lights continue to work. I know how to turn on the fog lights and high beams and that would be enough to get me home. I'll wait until I'm one of the 0.1% (GM says 200 out of 200,000 will have a problem) before I even think about a dealer ripping the fuse box out of the engine compartment to install a jumper that could have the same issue.

I had this done a few days ago. The car is back at the dealership because now the battery drains overnight. I knew I shouldn't have let them do it! It was in for other stuff so I thought why not. Now I know why not!

2007 3LT Convertible was done under warranty not the recall due to loss of low beam in 2015.

They did my 2006 under the recall over a year ago; might be two recall letters

still have my letter...no issues.....if it happens the hi beams still work....and as I understand it the low beams will work again after it cools off....that being said...I refuse to go to the dealer ....seems they always fk something else up....I will have my regular Vette mechanic fix it

Me neither. They're still fine (2007) although I don't drive at night much.

There have been too many stories here about dealers messing things up when trying to do this simple recall, so I'm sittin' tight.

And there are posts here about guys doing the fix themselves. It's not complicated, but I don't have the energy. Just reading the "How to" posts makes me tired.

Oh well . . .

Whoa!! Who thinks women aren't valuable?

My impression from reading posts here over the years is that far more people have had the dealership screw something up trying to do the recall than people who have actually experienced the issue. And since the issue is so easily solved by turning on either the high beam or fog lights and all the other lights still work, I'll keep collecting the recall letters so that if, on the off chance I'm one of the 0.1% of the owners that GM estimates will see this issue, THEN I'll take it in for the free recall that legally will never expire. The only thing wrong with this strategy would be if GM goes bankrupt again and never comes back in which case I'll spend the hour and 10 cent piece of wire and do it myself.
