Default Oil Pan Replacement

I have a 2007 Vette only 27,000 miles. Last oil change dealer said oil pan was "weeping" not "seeping" and didn't need an immediate repair. Recently noticed small oil droplets on garage floor. Has anyone ever heard of this. I can understand a seal replacement, but the whole oil pan? Nothing has ever been damaged underneath. Any idea what a repair like this would cost? Thanks

Pretty common issue.

I replace my oil pan gasket myself last year. As Jrose said it is a fairly common problem. You can live with it or replace the pan gasket. It is really not too difficult if you have some basic tools and some experience in automotive mechanics. The whole project took me off and on about 10 hours, most spent on figuring it out. There are a couple of YouTube posts on DYI. A dealer will charge about $800+ to do the job. Cost me about $65.

You tube has many DIY for the C6, including the oil pan gasket replacement.
Here is a copy of the Service manual version.

As others here have said, it's just the gasket that would need replacement.
I bought my car in November of 2013, and had the "weeping" issue then and today still has the same rate of weeping and it occasionally leaves a mark on the garage floor. So, not enough for me to replace it yet, and this is a DD car.
Maybe something that you could live with and keep a eye on for now.

Extrapilot is correct. It is the gasket. Oil will not penetrate through the metal pan. Make sure also that it is not a rear seal leak and that it is in fact the pan gasket. It is a semi-major job. The entire sub frame has to be removed to get the pan off. After everything is put back together, you will need to get an alignment done.

It's an 8hr booked job at the dealer. I've had it done b4. That was warranty work though. Might be less time if your actually paying for it. And a wheel alignment.

You might check the tightness of your oil pan bolts. Some do tend to come loose. It might help.

Is this the first car that you have owned that dripped a bit of oil?

I have never had a car drip any oil, the 08 vette does with 29k on it. My cobalt ls dd has 185k on it too.
I have read that GM uses a dab of rtv or whatnot on the corners to keep it in place instead coating none or the whole thing. This causes a leak over time.

I feel fortunate, my car has been dripping quite a few fluids, but oil hasn't been one of them.

10' GS had my oil pan gasket changed before winter storage. Cost about $750. I only paid my $100 deductible with my 3rd party warranty.

Well, you deserve congratulations...I don't think that I have ever owned a car that didn't drip a bit of oil on the garage floor. My '07 Vert doesn't...which is nice. If it did drip though, I would just chaulk it up to being like every other car I've had.

I have owned and driven many vehicle...I have gone through ~ 25 company vehicles over the course of my career, and have personally owned 12-15 vehicles. My 2008 Corvette is the only vehicle (personal and company) that has leaked oil. I had the pan gasket replace 3 years ago and all is fine.

Impressive...I must be unlucky or keep my cars too long.

My oil pan weeps, and leaves a nice little puddle on the floor. Nothing too major, but someone also cross threaded one of the drain bolts and now there is a healicoil in one. I am going to just have it replaced, however I was looking for the part number. Does anyone know best replacement for 2009 Z06?

And I have since bought an '08 that has a gasket leak .

Right now, we're keeping an eye on it, and are adding oil as needed.
