Wife's C6 conv needs new runflats

They don't call the Goodyear OEM tires runcraps for no reason.
Michelins are a good brand, as well as Bridgestones.

Yes. My wife is "rather independent".
Which is part of why we got married last March.
She's going with Firestones.
Comments on this Forum helped make her
(and I) comfortable with her decision.
My "deal" against Firestone is due to very
long-ago "stuff". No longer applies, I think,

OK, I get the sarcasm.
And yes, the "problem" is very old. The last century 1990's actually.
And it did result in Firestone's Decatur, Illinois plant being closed.
( so long ago I was actually working part of that decade ).

Or just Google "Ford Firestone" if you don't trust Wikipedia.
Not a "wonderful time" in the annuals of automotive greatness. /sarc off
P.S.
Thanks for the tire pic, and your recommendation.

[QUOTE=Retired GM Engr;1593955118]My wife's used C6 Conv. has 55k miles. Needs new runflats.
She has a preferred local tire dealer - for many years.
For good reasons, he IS her dealer. He can provide either:
1. Goodyear F1s.
2. Firestone Firehawks.
Goodyears $230 more the OEM size set.
I will never do Firestones since the Ford Explorer debacle.
At that time a Firestone OEM set arrived on my new GMC Z71.
Rear sidewall blew out at 50 mph. 5/32s left. Still ? ? ?
My C5 Z06 Z16 daily driver has 106k miles. Runflats not avail.
OEM GY F1s, two sets of PS2s, now on Bridgestone Potenzas.
Michelins best, Bridgestones fine - now less aggressive driving.
I have Firestone Firehawks on my vette, and they are great. You need to put that Firestone problem, that occurred 20+ years ago, behind you. That was an entirely different tire, time and issue. Name me a single tire manufacturer that has NEVER had any issue or problem with one of their tires.

45K Miles on Firestone Rears
Just replaced my Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval RFT on the rear of my 06 coupe.
Almost down to the warning bars, 45K miles.
Might have a party!

I have Michelin RFs on my Vette, but I have had the experience of having Firestone Firehawks and BFG Radial T/As successively on my '69 Mustang. The Firestones were great tires and I was really sad when they wore out. Because the Mustang is a vintage car, I wanted replacements with an American manufacturer's name in RWL. Unfortunately, the only 14" tire that met that criterion were the BFGs. Firestone had ceased putting their logo on the Firehawks after the Explorer debacle. Usually, when you change tires, you get a better feel for the road simply because you have better functioning tread and sidewalls. In my case the BFGs were really a noticeable step down from the Firestones. The car didn't handle nearly as well on the BFGs. I still don't like them, but I'm gonna wear em out anyway.

Advanced
Michelin Ps2 ZP has been such a good tire that I wouldn't consider another choice. They are quiet stick like glue and still have lots of tread after 22k miles. They replaced the original Goodyear F1 supercar run flats.

Bridgestone and Firestone are the same company.

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
I run the Firestone wide oval run flats, got rid of my GY tires as I could not get them to wear right, almost like the chamber was out but alignments were fine?
Had the Firestones over triple digits several times no worries.

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position RFT. Good wear and excellent in the rain should you be one who actually drives a Vette in the rain.
