Best place to get replacement targa top?
When I got my '10 GS, it came with the black see-through removable top. Would like to have matching paint removable top. Is the only place to get one directly from GM? Or is there another supplier that sells at better prices, paint matched, etc?

But nowhere you can get new paint matched replacement? I've been looking on ebay, etc. All a crapshoot on condition, who is selling, weird shipping prices, etc. I had thought you would be able to get new OEM from somewhere. I've seen brand new OEM transparent ones for sale like the one I have, but not paint matched ones.
Where are people with insurance claims for damaged roofs getting them from basically?? Was hoping an option other than asking at stealership and being told some astronomically ridiculous prices.

You could buy a nice one on ebay for around $600.00.. You could also buy a perfect one on ebay, then have it painted your car color for about half of what GM would charge for new...WW

They're for sale on eBay all of the time. I've also seen a bunch of them in C6 Parts For Sale section.

Someone posted that if you get a new top from GM, it will come unpainted and you must have that done locally. No personal experience.
Shipping a top is rather expensive and risky. I've seen several stories of tops damaged in transit and UPS/FedEx claim it wasn't packaged properly and therefore not their fault. It can be done safely, but it's not like shipping wheels in factory boxes.
I'd be inclined to keep looking on Craigslist and post in the For Sale section here, hoping to find a good one near enough to be part of a nice road trip.
Be aware that the painted top is a bit quieter but noticeably heavier than your transparent one. There are also some of the "recalled but not destroyed" tops from a few years ago waiting for an unknowing person to buy.

A new top from GM has nothing but the panel in the box. The panel is packed with all 4 corners in foam so the top cannot move at all. By the time you price all the hardware, weather stripping, and paint you'd be money ahead buying a good used one and having it painted to match. That's what I did and never looked back.

Run your mouse up the the top left and hold it over "Forums". Then run the mouse down to "C6 Corvettes". Another list will appear to the right. The second from the bottom is C6 parts for sale/wanted"

I did what you are wanting to do several years back, but I contacted someone from one of the local Corvette Clubs. As luck would have it, I got one from one of the members. It of course didn't match so I then took it to a local body shop and had it painted. There were no worries about damaged in shipment, or the cost of shipping. Just a thought, you might try, good luck.
