First rain for San Diego in a long time causing slick roads. Driver lost control and hit a tree. He was ejected and die at the scene. No ID of driver yet. Sad day.

they don't tell you to wear your seatbelt for nothing, not even Corvette drivers are above the laws of physics.

"In honor of jpee"
Probably bitched about the wrong forum. Sad nonetheless.

Yes San Diego's rainy today - not a frequent thing - and I'm riding in weather mode.
Way back in the 80's I decided to get in the habit of always wearing my seat belt - even before it was mandated. Now I feel naked if it's not on.
5150_BRD, I'm in the Rancho Bernardo area. We should go cruising...

That is tough to look at, I don't back out of the garage without a seatbelt on

Melting Slicks
Yep. I was pretty hacked off when CA made seat belts mandatory but I now wear them as a matter of routine. Wouldn't move the car without my seatbelt on.
Pre-seatbelt story: When I was 16 my dad gave me his '55 Buick Special 2dr ht. 2 speed Dynaflush and all. The car had a brocade pattern on the seat fabric and my dad had bought those Fingerhut slick clear plastic seat covers to prevent wearing the fabric portions of the seats out. He bought the car new and considered power steering an unnecessary luxury. The first time I took a hard left turn in that thing I found myself sliding toward the passenger door. Probably hadn't ever come up when dad drove the car. I took the seat covers off the car so I wouldn't kill myself.
Second pre-seatbelt story: My best friend had a '53 Ford Tudor sedan. A little flatty V8 with three on the tree. The car was a pure beater and the passenger side door latch was kind of "iffy". He was driving around with his younger sister and he slammed the Ford into a hard left turn, the door popped open and Maryellen commenced to leave the car. Denny grabbed her hand and kept her from being thrown out of the vehicle. The next time I saw the Ford he had used some heavy electrical wire wrapped around the window post to hold the door shut. The windows were permanently lowered and the door was unusable. What? Fix the latch? Nah!
