Default MGW purchase

I ordered directly from MGW--great service and really pleased with it. It was great from day one, and gets better after a few thousand miles.

Do you know if the factory 08' shift know will fit? Or will you have to buy an aftermarket one? I am about to purchase one here within the next week or so.

when you order the shifter you have a choice of oe **** or aftermarket. If you have an 08 you may want to order the lower box also.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is the lower box? Thanks for your response.

Yes, it will fit. I installed the MGW shifter/shifter box on my 2008 using the stock ****. Stock shifters are P.O.S. and will wear in time causing missed 3rd gear shifts and a rubbery feel. Had the MGW in for years now and there is no comparison. I only hope GM improved the C7 shifters to last longer.

The actual shifter bolts onto the lower box and attaches to the shifter rod. One of the issues with the stock shifter box is that the "0" ring on the shifter rod will wear and actually come off and dangle (which mine did). This will cause miss alignment and play with the shift rod, thus missed shifts and rubbery feel. MGW designed a singifcatly better Teflon shifter rod bushing that will last. This is why replacing both the shifter and shifter box eliminates oem's flaw designs.

Thank you! I didn't know you could buy just the shifter without the lower box. If I remember correctly the shifter I looked at was around 400$ and I believe that came with the lower box.

Yes, the new MGW shifter comes with the lower box and you definitely want it.

The MGW shifter lower box paired with their shifter is one of the best mods I have done. I had an earlier version of the MGW shifter before the lower box was available and the newer combo is even better.

Shifts are smooth and precise.

The new shifter box just came out after I purchased the shifter. So, I bought mine separately. I was fortunate to have purchased the later version MGW shifter and the new shifter box was compatible. I see now they come together as it should be.

I know the improvement that just the MGW shifter made, but I also know the improvement made with the added MGW shifter box. Both are needed.

Mine is the first gen. really stiff spring. Unit is well built. I only hope the newer units dont' require so much muscle as this wears on you.
