Default Good Time to Trade Up ?

Well, for those thinking about moving from their C6 to a C7, MacMulkin and others are advertising 20% of MSRP on all remaining 2016's.

In all the years I watched C6 prices I never saw 20% off. And in 2014 people were paying full MSRP for a new C7.

At least it seems C6 prices are holding steady . . . for now.

Yes, for someone who wants to keep their car long term it's a good deal. For those who like to trade in every 2-3 years I wouldn't buy a new car that's already a year old.

C6's have already taken the brunt of the depreciation hit, and a new C7 will depreciated over 6 years to about 40-50% of MSRP.

Choice is yours alone to make, even with 20% off, still have another 30% to go!

End of year/once the next year model comes out is always a good time to buy if you're not trading in every couple of years as 919 stated. Have bought my last three new vehicles at the end of the year and, between the end of year sales, military & other discounts, have gotten them all well below MSRP

That's a great deal 20% off remaining 16's I almost bought one earlier this year before I came across a very low mileage C6GS. Love the technology and interior of the C7, but some of the problems C7 owners are experiencing are unsettling. Still would like to get a Z06 one day

Some of the dealers here in Houston are advertising $20,000 off MSRP.

Wow! I hope so. One of our new members sent out an email from an old acquaintance he had run into who had an 09 GS for sale. Had bought it new. Wife dies and he had lost interest. Sitting in garage with about 1 k mileage. He thought it was a good deal at $ 39,900 with such low miles. I knew it was high . But out of curiosity I checked NADA. Oh My. Even with a $9k upcharge for the low miles, the retail was only.................................... ............$31,200. Thats a 3LT. Funny. While I was checking NADA, it showed an 09 in my area for sale. Yep. It was that one. listed on Auto Trader for $39,950..

Wonder how long he will sit on it? There's an 03 Z06 in our area with similar mileage that the guy has had for sale since about 2012. Its been in a heated garage, etc. He wants somewhere around $32k- $33k for it. Saw it again some months back. Who knows. Another 25 yrs and they may get their asking price.

There is an 11 GS in my area for sale in the range of $31. Been for sale forever. I had mild...very mild interest in it. It was low mileage, cannot believe it hasn't moved yet. I like GS's but not enough to want to trade. Instead, I've decided to boost my base. I'm much more into sleeper cars, so the blown base suits me.

Yup....I'll admit I was one of those that paid full MSRP for my '14.....just had to have it!

First year for the GS was 2010; maybe it's an '09 base.

I traded up 3 weeks ago.

Best decision I made. While I loved my old c6. It would only have gone down from whatever I wanted to do with it. I traded it while the mileage was still low.

At least now with my c7z, yes it's depreciating of course. But I have the latest technology, latest looks, brand new, factory warranty again, etc etc.

.

Awesome deals especially on new z06s...

650 hp!

There is a 2016 black c7 z06 with A8 brand new for 67 grand in the dealer for sale section of this site...

I'm glad it's not torch red with a black interior because I'd be thinking even harder about switching up.

I love my black on black 450 hp c6 z51 m6 and it's been utterly reliable and performs excellently so I'm keeping it...

My mistake. I was going from memory. I remember it was the red tintcoat and 3LT with somewhere around 1ooo miles.

i priced out a new c7 /w similar equipment to my 3lt. I think the sticker on it was still close to $70k, 20% off puts it in the high 50's (I think this was a z51 2lt with comp seats)

Thats 10k more than I paid for my 07 3lt loaded except f55.
The one I'm looking at is 59k, z51 2lt also.

Checked around localy and most have a 5k discount.

I am not in the market at the moment. My Corvette is a toy and when it comes time to upgrade my toy, I don't know if a c7 is what I will upgrade to. I have been drooling over GT-R's as of late.

After giving much thought to moving to a C7 and mulling over buying the new Harley M8, I've come to the conclusion that new tech is overrated. I'll keep my money for awhile longer. lol

I did a one hour test drive in a friend's C7 last year. Nice, but not yet enough to overcome what I personally consider the inherent defects in the C7 when compared to a C6:
Longer, wider, heavier. Bigger on the outside but smaller on the inside.
Less visibility.
Smaller trunk.
Garishly overstyled.
Seems to have just as many quality problems as the C6.

Eventually, we'll probably get a C7. But I'm in no rush.

Even with 20% off sticker I have no interest in a C7. Sat in the GS at "Corvettes of Carlisle" but wasn't impressed. Felt cramped inside, still hate the rear end & the sharp creases make it look too busy. I'll keep my GS forever & add a Chevelle SS to the stable.
