Call me old, but a "Powerglide" was Chevy's first auto transmission, a 2 speed. Tough, but not much good today.

Does the word mean something else?

It means how much would labor be to covert my 6 speed to a powerglide, I'll just ask another forum more performance oriented because you guys seem to be clueless

That thought crossed my mind. Seriously, swap the 6spd for a PG?
I cannot imagine the problems...but, throw enough money at it and I'm sure it could happen.

??? poweglide would cost less than a a6 swap. powerglides are durable too. many of the 1khp+ vettes are running powerglide i cant believe you guys are acting like this is such a weird thing lol

when im making 1k rwhp a manual transmission wont cut it if im serious about times

example of powerglide

Ask in the Tech section. You should get better responses.

Most of the people I've met at the track with powerglides don't daily drive them. That's not to say it couldn't or shouldn't be done. I'm curious if there would be overheating issues?

Sure...in a 1000 RWHP full tilt race car a 2 speed powerglide will improve your gas mileage. You may never have to buy gas again.

The only thing that would help your highway gas mileage is a high overall gear ratio (which a powerglide without an overdrive won't give you).

Another thing ... A powerglide does not have a lock-up converter like a stock 6L80E A6 automatic transmission has ... so forget about high gas mileage with a powergide.

Another thing ... Why the hell would you want a 2-speed automatic transmission in a daily driver Corvette? .... This ain't 1963

Silly question

.

Because they are more durable than an a6 can be done for cheaper and have been proven to run great times and hook up. Did you not see the video I posted? I just don't want to have a manual at 1k hp and a powerglide seems to be a better option than an a6 because of durability and every vette o see running a powerglide does a great job at the 1/4

Seriously, go ask in the Tech and FI section. You'll get much better responses and more info over there. This section is geared more towards appearance and General Corvette discussions.

While I can't comment on price, I know a number of guys making a lot of power with built A4s and still driving them regularly. That might be your just right option.
