well, I have heard you can hook a battery charger or (battery using jumper cables) up to the starter post underneath the car to send power to the vehicle and open it that way

I think a dealer can make you a key from your Vin #. Might be $$$ but at least you'll get in. Not being a wise guy but what happen to the keys?

Exactly right. Man....nice way to end the day.
Got a locksmith to weasel in a stiff wire and pull up the door lever.

Heres the thing...the friggin radio will not shut off, even with ignition off.

Draining the battery of course.

I pulled the radio fuse but it looks like that fuse handles a couple other things.

Wtf. The screen wont display, just a dull light, the volume and power do nothing.

The radio continues to play. Very low so i didnt notice it when i jumped out of the car yesterday. The protective feature that cuts power to accessory is not shutting off the radio either.

Anyone ever heard of this?

Thanks for your replies gentlemen.

Call a locksmith/roadside assistance company. They use a balloon style door jammer to pop the door without causing damage. (Have had to do it before myself.)

It'll be cheaper in the long run (and faster) than having another key fob made.

...year and model? Also is it the factory radio or an aftermarket? These stats will help diagnose.

2006 has a lose key. Early 2007 has a lose key . All other model years has a key inside the fob

Get a battery charger on the car....a low battery can cause all kinds of strange behavior.

You said your battery is dead. That's certainly what's causing your radio glitch. Usually one or both of the headlights will stay on too with a low battery.

Battery protection mode will cut the radio, unless the ignition switch was in the accessory mode and then it stays on.
Check the ignition switch light - red is off, amber is accessory mode on. If it's in amber, then hit the switch down once to turn accessory mode off or the switch shows a red light.

Go to the dealer with the VIN and get a key cut!

You need to do this regardless of how you manage to get in this time, because you have no key. You might as well cut out the middleman (locksmiths, roadside assistance) and save yourself some money. If you don't get a key, you are likely to be in the same situation in the future.

The car should time out even when in the acc mode. The car will not time out when in Service Mode.

Sometimes the horn will start blowing as the battery voltage comes up too...just weird. Disconnect the battery and charge it fully, then re-connect it...avoid all the strange behavior.

Is service mode when you hold down the ignition accessory switch for 5 or 10 seconds?

Yes. 5 seconds or so in the C6. eta: I can't remember right off if it is pressing the upper or lower portion of the rocker (it's been awhile), either way it it with your foot OFF the brake(auto)/clutch(man).

Basically the same as having the car on without the engine running. The same as "on" position on a keyed ignition car.

You can even pull codes in this mode, which is helpful if the fault keeps you from actually starting the car (like a clutch position sensor or a brake position sensor, etc…). I think that in the C6 all the dash/DIC displays are available to view as well.

If you have Onstar, call them. They can remotely open the car assuming the battery has power. Makes having Onstar worth the price.

You guys remember the poster who got locked out and he put a hole through the floor board to use the manual unlock lever? Don't do that.
