Full Body Length Stripe

My 08 ZHZ had black GM stripes on it. The stripe on the hood had faded and deteriorated over the years. I priced the GM replacement at $800. I instead had them painted on for about the same price and in my opinion looks 100x better First pic orignal 2nd pic new painted stripe

This is probably a better pic of the new stripe

I wanted some similar to the 60th anniversary stripes. But I couldn't see spending upwards of 400$ for a set. I ordered vinyl roll and made my own templates. Cut them out and installed them myself. Took some time , but in the end, I was happy. Attachment 47990643

I'm glad I checked out this thread. I wasn't a fan of the thought of stripes on our cars but the ones posted here are tastefully done. *thumbs up*

They are a lot easier to install than most people think. They'll not stick to the car until you find the right spot. Just keep them wet (top/bottom) and they'll go where you tell them to.
My next set will be painted on but I would not hesitate to recommend and/or install them on future cars or other people's rides.
Buy the best decal material that you can afford, Oracal, 3M would be names to seek and trust. Fade resistant, chemical resistant.

I'm having a set of full body stripes applied to my C6 vert in a few days by Vettestripes. I'm lucky enough to live in the same area as his shop, and he agreed to install them for me.

I'm a Vette Stripes customer as well. I installed them myself. Its fairly easy to do. You apply them wet and they will easily slide around as you work on placement and won't stick until you press them down. I put down a couple of small pieces of tape at precisely measured locations to use as guides. The one thing I like about the Vette Stripes versus the GM OEM stripes is that they wrap around the hood and other panels so that there's no visual gap in the stripe.

Those look great on that color, and I really like the no visible gap

I have read somewhere, probably here, that some of the 'stick-on' stripes will let UV light pass through so that when you remove them the paint underneath is faded like the rest of the car.
Anyone know if this true?
