I wouldn't worry about a change in price I would be worrying about my car being butchered!

I would never cut it that close. Be prepared that your car won't be ready and you'll miss the show. Especially if the detailer thinks he's going to film the process.

Nah like I said there was another customer that he had just finished when I went down there, it was a c5 same color as mine that looked flawless. I'm not at all worried because if it is butchered he will pay because I don't play, simple as that.

Let me ask you a honest question, would you work 30 hrs breaking your a$$ for $300 bucks? And that is without whatever it is going to cost him in materials.

I paid $500.00 for a paint correction just over a year ago that included a detail.

Hmmm, and how much time behind the blower motor before you pick it up?

Do that sound like a deal? he said normally that would cost $600 but he also wants to make a video to show what all he does using my car.
I would want solid references before I let anyone start wet sanding on my car, and that he was familiar with corvettes.
For what you are saying, it sounds too cheap IMO
Good luck

I have to agree. If he's been in business for awhile as you state, he's had time to make a video. Something doesn't sound right. But then again, sounds like you're going through with it either way, so hoping all is good and you got a great deal!

Good luck.

That is waayyy too cheap for that much quality detail work. $300 barely gets into paint correction (1 steps or all in ones) not even close to wet sanding and multiple step polishing steps.

I would not do that price for my own brother....

Sounds to me like the guy has little experience and is using your car (hence, the low price and desire to use your car in video) to promote him, and his probably new "business".

I just painted a friends wheels (GS) for him. He has back problems and is not able to clean them very good. Took all 4 wheels off the car, cleaned and painted the barrels black, and painted the hubs black also. Took all day. Charged him $00.00. Two weeks ago, detailed his car, inside and out, charged him $00.00. He bought all the stuff to do it with, I just supplied the shop and labor. It was definitely a j o b, and I wouldn't do it for 0 for just anybody.

Hey man,
I own a vehicle detailing business. Now even though I am in New Zealand and not the US, at that price this has a "too good to be true" feel about it. That list represents an awful amount of time. Only you know the guy and hopefully you have seen some of his work because wet sanding goes to **** real quick. If he is so good he should have work at full retail coming out of his ears and hence plenty of filming opportunities. If you are satisfied he is doing you a favour then fine but if he just needs the work wet sanding a Corvette is not a good starting point. Please let us all know how this goes, with pics.

Cheers
Stephen

This is going to end badly and likely result in a new paint job and I guarantee this detailer won't be the one paying for it.

When I had the gloss black paint work done I had them polish the whole car. They charged me 3 hrs work at $70 an hr.....I would be leary of someone wet sanding my car at that price.

Hope his work is legit for your sake.
