Maryland to Vegas
Well tomorrow I will start my journey from Maryland to Las Vegas in my 05 C6. This will be my third time making this trip but the first one in my Corvette. I know some of you guys have taken long trips in your Corvette so how was your experience?

Travelled from Pittsburgh, PA to mideastern Nebraska last year when I bought my c6... Was an excellent drive. Loved it... That was a 2000mile journey one way, with the route we took.. It was good .

Have gone from Mesquite, NV, to Clarksville, TN, Bowling Green, KY, San Antonio, TX, and a few other long trips ... enjoyed every minute of all the trips. My wife & I both found all our trips in the Corvette to be a very comfortable, enjoyable ... not to mention a whole lot of fun. Have a great trip

I lived in Maryland 44 years and moved here to Vegas in 2004. Wife and I drove my 2000 Grand Prix. Car was flawless all the way and it was a great trip and we stopped off at a lot of places on the way. I love it here and would never go back.

My wife and I are leaving for a trip from Denver to San Diego in our 06 on Monday morning. This will be our first long trip in the car but I trust it and know everything will go well. Should be a blast!

We've always enjoyed trips in the Vette. Took the C5's we've had on several and taken the C6 quite a few times.

Drifting
Long Island to Front Royal VA., down the Blue Ridge for a spell, across through back roads to Bowling Green, down to Nashville north to Indianapolis then east to PA. and back to LI, app. 2500 miles in 12 days. Severe rain in spots, tornado warnings and lightening storms in Bowling Green and the car ran flawless, comfortable, more than enough room and decent (mid 20's) gas mileage. And the fun factor, off the scale. Only problem was where to park, LOL. Have a great trip!

Been trying to take a trip from NJ to Bowling Green, Blue Ridge Pky, Tail of the Dragon, Nashville, but have been putting it off since last summer. Seems like it's always one thing or another, now my knee is acting up and will be seeing a Dr. tomorrow to see what it is. New tires arriving next week also, can't wait to get the Goodyears off and the Michelin's on.

Been in 47 States in our most comfortable C6. Longest trip was 8K, which included Quaddy Head park Maine (Easternmost point of US) and lasted 5 weeks. You will enjoy the trip to Lost Wages more if you avoid interstates as much as possible. The Vette will treat you fine. Enjoy it.

Last year DW and I drove our 07 vert from TN to Oklahoma City where we picked up Route 66 to CA, then returned via southern route through Tuscon, Las Cruses, Dallas, Birmingham. Put over 5k miles on her over 3 weeks. Our rules were: drive as much as possible with the top down; drive as little as possible on interstates; no fast food restaurants; no chain restaurants; no restaurant twice; as few as possible hotel reservations. Just took our time and enjoyed the ride!
Had a great time. C6 is a good road car, even though wife thought the vert lacked somewhat in trunk space.
Enjoy the trip.

So when you guys go out on these 3k,4k,-8k mile trips in a corvette, Do you haul a small trailer behind the car for the luggage? I mean 3-5 weeks on the road is a long time.
And if your wife is anything like mine she brings half of the house with her when she leaves for a road trip.

It's not as hard as you might think. My wife also likes to take lots of 'stuff' when we travel. I have three small duffle/gym bags that fit neatly in the trunk. They have a pocket in the front with a waterproof lining. Clean clothes go in the main compartment and as you change clothes, dirty clothes go in the front pocket. As the main compartment shrinks it allows the front pocket to expand. Works great. I use one, the other two go to DW. On our trip last year we did laundry 3 or 4 times when we stopped for the night. Since our trips are casual, enjoy the ride kind of adventures, we stop early (around 5 or 6) and have plenty of time to do a load of laundry if necessary.
Don't get me wrong, DW would rather take a ton more stuff, but after the initial complaints during packing, I rarely hear complaints on the trip.

Plan to enjoy the journey. If there's a required destination involved, make it a separate event from the trip itself.

I can fit a good amount of stuff in the trunk. One other thing is my wife doesn't like long car rides so we always time it so I drive and pick her up at the closest airport to where we are headed. She takes a carry on with her on the plane and I have the rest in the trunk with me but it all, always fits.

Well I made it home in Las Vegas. The Corvette ran like a champ. It averaged out at 27 mpg which is good for driving up and down mountains majority of the trip. I never seen my car this dirty so she will be getting a detailed cleaning tomorrow. It also hit 100k on this trip...I fell in love with this car all over again. I didn't really take a lot of scenic pics but here is a couple near the Hoover Dam.
